Friends are very important in everyone’s life because friends are always there when we need them. It’s great to have many friends, and I can’t think about my life without my friends.

My best friend is Lisa. When I first met her, I was five. She is one year older than me. Now we are in the same class, in the 8th grade. She is tall and quite thin. She has long curly blond hair and blue eyes. I am not so beautiful. Sometimes I wish I could be as beautiful as she is.

My name’s Molly. I am tall enough but a little fat. Lisa and I like doing a lot of things together and talking about different things. She always helps me with my math and I sometimes help her with her English and history. I had to do a report (报告) on science once，but I didn’t understand what the teacher said. The next day, I read it in front of the class. But the teacher told me that my report was wrong and all my classmates laughed at (嘲笑) me. I felt very bad about myself. Lisa was the only one who didn’t laugh at me. She tried to be nicer than anybody else and make me happy.

I am a shy person and sometimes I feel that people don’t understand me. Lisa is friendly and everybody loves her. She is also smart and she can deal with (解决) everything. I am happy to have a friend like her.

Many people think that TV programs have little or no educational value(教育意义). In fact, some programs are good and we can learn many things from them. Here are some of my favorite programs.

Being a young man is one thing and being a good one is another. A good young man should have these qualities (品质). First of all, one must have a healthy body. A healthy body is the most important. If you are not very well in health, you’ll have to take medicine day after day. What’s worse, you can’t work, do sports and so on with a bad body. Second, always do something good for others. Help and care about the people around you. If everyone does something good every day, our world will become wonderful. Third, one must have the ability (能力) to work with others. Everyone needs friends because no one can live and do everything by himself.

Patriotism is also very important. Patriotism means love for one’s country. It’s one of the highest qualities of humans. Everyone should love our country.

I think a young man today should also know something about art. If everyone can enjoy art and is able to make more of it for others, then people will live better and enjoy more.

Years ago, if a teenager had some problems in his life, he might write about them in his diary. Now a teenager might surf the Internet and write about his problems in his blog (博客). In some ways, a diary and a blog are almost the same. What makes a blog different from a diary?

The biggest difference is that a blog is much more public (公开) than a diary. I have a younger sister. Sometimes I read her blog. She writes about her things like getting up early for swimming practice and not studying enough for her chemistry exam. When I was her age, I wrote about the same things, but only in my diary. After I finished writing, I would put my diary in a secret place because I was worried that someone else might read it.

A blog is public so it has some bad points. The biggest problem is that anyone can read what you write. If I am angry with a friend during school and write something bad about him in my diary, he will never know. However, if my sister writes something bad about a friend, that friend may read her blog and cry. So we must be very careful to write.

Blogs have good points, of course. If I feel lonely and write “Nobody cares about me” in my diary, no one will know about it. However, if my sister writes the same words in her blog, her friends will quickly reply and tell her how much they like her. A blog helps people keep in contact (联系) with their friends.

If people are careful, writing blogs is really a good way to communicate with others. However, I still enjoy my diary.
