Tom, a famous singer, liked to play jokes(玩笑) on others. But once others played a joke on him. One day Tom met a young man, one of his new friends. They had lunch together. The young man said that he had an uncle who never laughed or smiled and nobody was able to make his uncle smile or laugh. “You bring your uncle to my house,” said Tom. “I think it’s easy. I'm sure I can make him laugh.”

In the evening the young man and his uncle came to Tom’s house.

Tom began to speak. He told several funny stories, which made the people in the room laugh. But the young man’s uncle never smiled. Tom told more stories, but the old man still kept quiet. Finally he stopped. He was tired and he had no way to make him happy.
