What is the spirit of Christmas? If you don’t know, maybe the story in A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens will tell you about it.   

The story is about an old man     11     Scrooge who never laughs or smiles. He is mean and only thinks about himself. He doesn’t treat others     12    . He just cares about whether he can make more money and he hates Christmas. However, one Christmas Eve, Scrooge sees the ghost of his dead partner, who was punished because he     13     to be just like Scrooge. He     14     Scrooge to change his ways if he doesn’t want to end     15     like him. He also tells him to     16     three ghosts to visit him. That night, the three ghosts take him to the past, the     17     and the future. All the things that happened make Scrooge so scared.

Some people think celebrating Christmas Day can help them understand western culture better. Some people think it is a great holiday to have a good time with their families and friends. During Christmas Day, they can meet friends, go shopping, watch movies and go to different parties.

But I have different ideas. Most of us celebrate Christmas just because we see many people around us do it.

China has its own holidays, such as the Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Day, so we don’t have to celebrate holidays from other countries. Some people spend a lot of money celebrating Christmas Day. People buy lots of gifts for their friends and families, but this is not the best way to show their love.
