Welcome to Jiefang Street. It’s a very busy (繁忙的) street. On the right of the street there is a very big building. That is History Museum. It is a great place and you can learn about Chinese history in it. Next to it is the Bank of China. Near the bank is a post office. There is a bus stop in front of the post office.

A big supermarket is on the left of Jiefang Street. It is Huaxia Supermarket. There are all kinds of nice things in it. If you want to buy something to eat, you can go to the first floor. On the second floor, there are some TVs and computers. If you want to buy nice clothes, you can go to the third (第三) floor.

On the street, there is a wonderful coffee house for people to have a rest. It is between the supermarket and the bookstore.

Jim lived in the country. He loved playing in the river near his old house, but now his father has a job (工作) in a big city, so he moves there with his family.

Their new house has a garden, but the garden is very small. So Jim isn’t happy. “Is there a river (河) near our house?” he asks his mother in the first morning. His mother answers, “No, there isn’t. But there’s a nice park near here, and there’s a pool in it. We can go there this afternoon.” Jim is happy to hear that.

After lunch, Jim and his mother go to the park. Jim wants to walk near the pool, but there is a sign (牌子) in front of it. His mother reads it to him, “Be careful! This pool is dangerous (危险的). 367 people have fallen (掉进) into it.” Jim looks into the pool carefully, and he says, “But I can’t see them.”
