As a teenager, I had a lot of anger and was not good at communicating with my parents. One day, when I was getting ready for school, my mother handed me a T-shirt. It was my father’s, not mine. At that time, I was taller and stronger than my father. So when I put the T-shirt on, I felt like I was being chocked (窒息) in it! I realized that it was a small mistake by my mother, but the feeling of being choked made me very angry. Without thinking, I ripped (撕破) the T-shirt! Later, my mother told my father what had happened, “See what your son had done.” Instead of scolding (责骂) me, my father asked my mother to repair the T-shirt. Then he wore it to work the next day. He spent the whole day wearing a ripped T-shirt. When my mother told me what my father did, I felt sorry about what I had done. At the same time, I was filled with great admiration (钦佩) for my father. His kindness taught me a life lesson I would never forget. On that day, I made a decision that I would never let anger beat me.

So far, a few big changes in people’s life in China have drawn the world’s attention. Among them, four ideas stand out. They are known as “China’s four great modern inventions”.
High-speed trains
China’s new high-speed train Fuxing made its first run from Beijing to Shanghai on 21st September, 2017. It ran at a speed of 350 km/h, which makes it the fastest train in the world. Actually, the high-speed train has became a new name card for China overseas (在海外).
Bike sharing
Besides the high-speed train, many other innovations (创新) have also changed people’s lives in China. Bike sharing, for example, is not a new idea but China has given it a whole new meaning. In China, there are about 10 million shared bikes. People don’t need to find stations to put the bikes. This makes bike sharing much easier.
Cashless payment (无现金支付)
Suppose you are riding a bike on the street and stop to buy a bottle of water without any money on you. Don’t worry. In China, now you are able to just shop by paying with your cellphone. All you need to do is just to scan a store’s quick response code (QR code,二维码). Even a vegetable seller on the roadside has a QR code for WeChat Pay or Alipay.
Online shopping
As for shopping, China has many big online shopping platforms, such as Taobao, Tmall and JD.com. Some foreign customers have even made foreign-language websites to help foreigners buy products from China.
