Look at the panda! It looks like an astronaut (宇航员). It wears an ice shell (冰壳) and looks fat, so we call it “Bing Dwen Dwen”. White is the colour of ice and snow. “Bing Dwen Dwen” likes ice sports very much and is good at them. I think it is so cute and lovely.

Do you think the red mascot looks like a lantern (灯笼)? The lantern’s name is “Shuey RhonRhon”. When the Chinese New Year comes, people always make or buy red lanterns. Red is the colour of hope and good luck, so people think their dreams will come true in the new year. “Shuey Rhon Rhon” can give players hope and help them do well in the 2022 Beijing Winter Paralympic Games(残奥会).

At 10:44 a.m. on June 5th, 2022, China sent its astronaut (宇航员), Chen Dong, Liu Yang and Cai Xuzhe, into space (太空). They joined in the latest Shenzhou XIV mission (任务). Do you want to become astronauts like them? How can they become astronauts?

●Be healthy

To be an astronaut, you need to be very healthy. It is important for them to have a healthy body. You can’t have other small problems. For example, you can’t have scars . They may split (裂开) in space.

●Become stronger with hard training (训练)

For example, you need to be strong like sports players. You will also wear a 200-kilogram uniform and do missions underwater for six or seven hours without eating or going to the WC. It is useful for these astronauts to face the space.

●Learn science

Learning is important, too. Astronauts take 60 classes to get ready for a mission, like math, English, spacecraft design, physics and many more. So they will know what to do when something bad happens (发生) during the mission.
