On the 10th floor, she met John, the old man who interviewed her several days ago. “Tina!” he said, “Why didn’t you work with us today?” All of a sudden, Tina realized she mistook the 11th floor for the 10th floor. “Oh, my God!” she answered, “______” After hearing this, John couldn’t help laughing.

Children Can Cook

The course is to improve children’s knowledge in the kitchen. They will learn basic cooking skills, kitchen safety, and how to buy proper ingredients (原料) and follow steps in recipes (食谱). Children can sit comfortably and eat what they have cooked at the end of each lesson.

Little Writers

The course is divided into two parts. In the first part, children are introduced to famous stories and their writers. In the second part, they are taught to write their own stories. Children also get the chance to write other text types, such as poems and plays.

Acting for Fun

This is a course that lets children enjoy the fun of acting. Through acting and speaking in front of people, children will be more confident. Parents are welcome to watch the performance (演出) given by the children at the end of the course.

Watercolor Painting

This course teaches children the basic skills of painting people and animals. We encourage children to watch, imagine and create their own works.

Friendship Restaurant

We have different kinds of Japanese food here. The food menu is in Japanese and Chinese. All the waiters and waitresses can speak at least one foreign language.

A dictionary is very useful for the people who are learning English. People will use a dictionary for help when they have difficulty in reading a passage or doing English exercises. You will make more progress if you know how to use a dictionary efficiently.     26    

Choose a suitable dictionary.     27     You can choose a dictionary which is suitable for your English level, needs and interests. For a middle school student in Grade 9, you can choose OXFORD INTERMEDIATE LEARNER’S ENGLISH-CHINESE DICTIONARY.

Try to guess the meaning of a new word before you use a dictionary. You may have had such an experience when you are reading a passage: there’re some new words in it and you have difficulty in understanding the full passage. What will you do in this situation?     28    

Learn culture from a dictionary. You don’t just learn a new word’s pronunciation, meaning, part of speech and other usages.     29    

A dictionary is a good friend for learning English. It’s a waste for you not to use a dictionary in your study. But don’t think the more you use a dictionary, the better result you can get.     30
