Most people nowadays are worried about plastic pollution. And many are finding ways to solve it. The Scottish man was encouraged by two things. First, his daughter’s worries over large amounts of plastic in the oceans touched ________ deeply. He thought about ________ would happen if the beautiful sea was totally polluted by plastic waste. Second, during a trip to India, McCartney ________ local people were melting (熔化) plastic waste to fill potholes (坑洼) on their roads. However, he quickly realized that the government wouldn’t be glad to let people burn plastic, ________ he had to find a better way.

McCartney got together with his friends to start a ________ named MacRebur in April. From then on, they started developing a technique to achieve their goal—using plastic waste to build roads. They took plastic waste and cut it into small pieces. Later, the plastic pieces were mixed with something that made the plastic stick(粘贴) properly to the roads. The mixture then went to an asphalt(沥青) producer. In an interview with CNN, McCartney said that the ________ built with their special material were 60% stronger than traditional ones. They might last up to three times longer.
