Qingming is the best time for Taqing or a spring outing. People always go out and enjoy the early flowers before summer. It is a fine time to enjoy the beauty of nature during the festival.

Swinging

Swings are very popular among children. As a popular custom on Tomb-sweeping Day, swinging not only stops the coldness from eating cold food, but also develops a child’s bravery.

Kite flying

Flying kites is also an important custom during the Qingming Festival. In the past, people cut the string to let the kite fly freely. This custom can bring good luck and get rid of illness.

Taking online classes becomes very popular now, but students have different views about it.

Wang Qi, 14: I love taking online classes. They give me a lot more choices and freedom. We can choose to learn whatever we want. Also, online classes enable us to study whenever and wherever we want, and it is very convenient.

Wu Jun, 13: I don’t think taking online classes is a good way to study. There are many temptations on the Internet. Students can be distracted（分心）from their courses easily. The whole learning process is not as organized as it is in the classroom.

Zhou Siya, 13: Online classes are good. We might feel more focused on learning when we are alone in front of a computer with no one to distract us. In addition, taking courses online also means we can have more time to use a computer, and it is a good way to practice our computer skills.

Li Chunjie, 14: I think the idea of taking online classes is crazy. It can increase our chances to use the computer and the radiation（辐射）from them could do harm（伤害）to our bodies, especially our eyes. Also sitting in front of a computer for a long time without exercising can be harmful to our health.

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn to be patient and wise. So he asked them to take turns looking at a pear tree that was far from their home.

The first son went in winter, the second in spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in fall. After they came back, he called them together and asked them what they saw.

The first son said that the tree was ugly and weak.

The second son didn’t think so—he said there were green buds in the tree and it was full of hope.

The third son didn’t agree with them. He said there were many flowers that smelled sweet and the tree looked beautiful.

How do animals live in the cold winter? They do many different and amazing things to get through the winter.

Some of them “migrate（迁徙）”. This means they travel to other places where the weather is warmer or they can find food.     31     The trip can be dangerous, so some animals travel in large groups. Other kinds of birds fly alone.

Some animals keep active in winter. They must fit the changing weather.     32     To keep warm, animals may grow thicker fur in autumn.

Some animals begin to collect their winter food in autumn. When it’s very cold, they stay in their homes.     33     Squirrels collect seeds and nuts. They’re safe and warm in their homes in winter.

    34     They’re in hibernation（冬眠）. They eat much food in autumn. In winter they eat nothing. They’ re very hungry when they wake up in spring. They usually look for food in March or April.     35    

Winter is cold in northern countries. Some animals are smart. They can spend winter safely.
