In England, people often talk about the weather because they can experience (经历) four seasons (季节) in one day. In the morning the weather is warm just like in spring (春天). An hour later black clouds come and then it rains hard. The weather gets a little cold. In the late afternoon the sky is sunny, the sun begins to shine, and it is summer at this time of a day. In England, people can also have summer in winter, or have winter in summer. So in winter they can swim sometimes, and in summer sometimes they should take warm clothes.

When you go to England, you will see that some English people usually take an umbrella or a raincoat with them in the sunny morning, but you should not laugh at (嘲笑) them. If you don’t take an umbrella or a raincoat, you will regret (后悔) later in the day.

In Lopburi, Thailand (泰国), there is an interesting festival—the Monkey Buffet Festival (猴子自助餐节). It is on the last Sunday of November and it is a great day for monkeys. People there think monkeys can bring good luck to them, so they have this special festival to thank monkeys. Now, the monkey is one of Lopburi’s symbols.

Every year on that day, people prepare (准备) more than 300 kg of fruit, vegetables, cakes and even drinks for the monkeys. About 20000 monkeys enjoy their delicious food during the festival. People from different places come to see the monkeys on that day.

During the festival, there are a lot of interesting activities about monkeys. People always dress up as (打扮成) monkeys and they sing, dance and play music on the street. People take photos of the monkeys and play with them. Everyone has a great time there.

Monkeys are clever animals. They always live in groups. When they’re in danger, they fight with their enemies (敌人). Most of them live in the trees. They are good at climbing trees. Monkeys can do some easy work for people. They can even work out easy maths problems.

I am glad you are coming to our school next Tuesday. I want to meet you at the train station, but unluckily I will have to go out for an important meeting. I e-mail you a map of our town, because you never come here before.

Can you find the train station on the map? Yes, it’s in the northwest of the town. When you come out of the station, you can see Queen Street. Turn left and walk along Queen Street. At the second crossing, turn right, and you come to King Street. Go along this street about five minutes. You can see a crossing again. There’s a supermarket there. Turn left and you come to Green Street. Walk along, and you can see a bank and a post office on the right. Addison Road is between them. Our school is on Addison Road. I think you can find it.
