Wait for Hard Times to Pass

When I was a child, my mom would sometimes finish work feeling tired. Sometimes we might hear some bad _________ from family members. Sometimes we would hear about something sad on the news.

Air pollution is one of the most serious problems for people nowadays. But some people in the US say that they have found a way to solve the problem. In many cities, hundreds of people ride bikes instead of taking a bus or driving a car to work every day.

In New York, some bike riders even make a group. Its name is “Bike for a Better City”. They say if more people ride bikes to work, there will be fewer cars and less air pollution. They want to solve the problem of air pollution. They want to build roads for bikes only because it’s not safe for bike riders to use the same roads with car drivers. Members of “Bike for a Better City” think that if there are bike roads, more people will ride bikes to work. They are working hard for this idea.

But there aren’t any bike roads now. In the city, not everyone thinks it is a good idea to build bike roads because it costs much money and time. And car drivers don’t like the idea, either. Because many people live too far away from their working places, they can’t go to work by bike.
