We often face problems or difficulties in our daily life. We can ask our friends, parents or teachers for help or write to the advice page of newspapers or magazines. Lily has written an email to Linda, who is the editor (编辑) of Teenagers’ Space, to ask for advice.
An Email to Linda
Dear Linda,
I feel not all of my classmates like me. I only have a few friends to play and study with. I’d like to make more friends. What can I do?
Yours,
Lily
Linda’s Reply
Dear Lily,
There are ways to make friends. Many people become friends when they share interests, so you could join a sports team or a club to meet more people. Besides, you can also do small things every day, such as smiling at people and saying hello to them in a friendly way. Feel free to talk first. It’s not a good idea to keep saying nothing. Most of all, remember to be yourself. You want your friends to like you for who you are. Everyone has different characters. If you feel that you have to change your personality to make friends, it loses meanings.
Linda

Air pollution is one of the most serious problems for people nowadays. But some people in the US say that they have found a way to solve the problem. In many cities, hundreds of people ride bikes instead of taking a bus or driving a car to work every day.
In New York, some bike riders even make a group. Its name is “Bike for a Better City”. They say if more people ride bikes to work, there will be fewer cars and less air pollution. They want to solve the problem of air pollution. They want to build roads for bikes only because it’s not safe for bike riders to use the same roads with car drivers. Members of “Bike for a Better City” think that if there are bike roads, more people will ride bikes to work. They are working hard for this idea.
But there aren’t any bike roads now. In the city, not everyone thinks it is a good idea to build bike roads because it costs much money and time. And car drivers don’t like the idea, either. Because many people live too far away from their working places, they can’t go to work by bike.
