That day, my class and I visited Chris Care Center in Phoenix. Arizona to comfort the old people who needed a little cheering up during the holiday season.

The first two__________there were for old persons who needed help in looking after themselves.

We brought them lovely flowers and beautiful songs. To our joy, they loved them.

_________ we were singing on the third floor for those with Alzheimer (老年痴呆症), most of them stared off at the walls or floors. However, one lady caught my eye. She was sitting by the door, in a wheelchair, and she was___________——she was singing loudly. But the songs weren’t we were singing——__________ they didn’t sound like that. When we sang more__________, she also did that.

Her songs were so strange, and some children began to laugh.

“Where are the workers? They__________come to stop her!” I felt worried.

Just then, Justin, one of my students, did something that__________surprised me.

He walked to her, __________his hands and held hers, then said, “Grandma,your songs are so__________!”

This elderly lady soon stopped singing. “Thanks a lot! My boy!” Then she___________Justin’s face with the other hand. Tears began to fall down her face. No words can completely___________that great moment!

I felt so sorry then——what the old lady really needed was just___________! I’d just seen the trouble. However, Justin saw the lady’s13.________.

One day, when I was in Grade One, I was asked to go to the headmaster’s office. As I pushed the heavy door open, I found my parents sitting in the office too. My dad walked to me, with some of my drawings in his hand. “Why do you only use a black crayon （蜡笔） when you draw?” he asked.

I said nothing.

“Show me to your desk.” said Dad.

So we came back to my classroom. Dad pulled out my crayon box. There was only one black crayon in it. “Where are the rest of your crayons?” He was surprised.

“I shared all the other crayons with my friends.” I said. I liked to share everything, just as my parents had taught me.

I looked at my dad, then the headmaster——their faces turned red.

Later, I learned that both Dad and the headmaster were actually embarrassed （尴尬的）. at that time. The headmaster had called my parents in to discuss “my problem” — he thought I had a deep emotional （情绪的）. problem after seeing all my pictures.

In fact, I was just too shy to ask for my “shared” crayons back.

That night, Dad had a talk with me. He told me about the difference between sharing and giving. He also gave me a new box of crayons. “These crayons are for you. I don’t want you to share or give these crayons to anyone else.” he said.

There is a lot to see under the sea, but you need to remember that light behaves differently in water from in air. The objects(物体) appear closer to you than they exactly are. You might find yourself reaching out to touch something and completely missing it. Objects under water will appear larger than they would on the surface(表面), too. Be careful not to tell any stories about the big fish that got away. That fish might not be so big after all! It’s just because sometimes things can seem to be as much as about 33 percent bigger in water.

What’s more, in deeper water, colors just don’t seem as bright. In fact, it looks as if some colors are missing. Remember the color of an object is as a result of the wavelengths(波长) of light that are reflected(反射) from its surface. And light is taken in as it moves down through the water.

Swimmers wear wet suits to keep warm underwater. Let’s take bright red, yellow, and blue wet suit as an example. These colors are hard to miss on the surface of water. Watch carefully the changes in color as you descend in the water. The red part now looks almost black because the red light wavelengths, the longest among these three colors, are missing. As you go down deeper, the same thing will happen to the yellow part. Even at a place of about 6 to 9 meters underwater, you look terrible, like a ghost! And you have to wait for your return to the surface to enjoy the bright colors again.
