In China, there are two kinds of lion dances - the Northern kind and the Southern kind. The Northern lion is red and yellow, and it looks dangerous, like a real lion. There is usually a father lion, a mother lion, and sometimes little lions in the Northern lion dance. The Southern lion is like a cat and it has more different colours.

The lion dance needs one man dancing the head and the other man dancing the tail. But in the Northern lion dance, there’s a dancer with a ball standing before the lion. The Northern lion dance is usually for fun, and the music is lively. The music of the Southern lion dance is exciting as well.

The lion dance is always a great art for people all over the world and the value* of it never changes* over time.

Sam and his dad Oscar think of each other* as the best son and father in the world… But that stops on the day they plan to build* a tree house.

At the shop, they have different ideas about how much lumber* to buy. When they get home, they can’t agree* on which tree to choose to build a tree house in.

Sam wants the maple. Dad wants the hackberry. They don’t welcome each other’s ideas.

“Sam is so stubborn,” Dad says to Mum.

A few days later, Mum comes to Sam. “Father’s Day is coming. Why not make something for your dad? He’ll be happy.” Sam makes a nice box by using some of the lumber for the tree house.

When Dad sees it, he asks. “Hey, do you make it all by yourself?”

“It’s for you,” says Sam. “But I can’t make it well. I’ll have to buy you something else.”

“Oh no! Keep it. I like this,” Dad asks. “Your mother says if we want to build the tree house, we should start now. Will you help?”

“Sure,” says Sam. “But we still don’t know which tree to choose.”

Mum looks out of the window. “Well, my dear stubborn Oscar and Sam, why not build it in the oak tree?”

“Great Mum speaks. What do you think?” Sam smiles.

“I think it’s a great idea,” says Dad. “Let’s get to work!”
