Have you ever been to Berlin? I paid a visit to it for five days and enjoyed a happy time. Berlin is a big city. In order to make my travel easy, I divided the city into some areas, and then traveled from area to area. It is a great place for a bike ride instead of walking around. It provides a fast and easy way to move around Berlin, and costs around 9 Euros per day to rent (租).
If you really want to enjoy walking, there is also a free walking tour. It begins at the Brandenburg Gate and lasts 3.5 hours. It took me through the center of the city, showed me all the highlights (重要的部分) and gave me some history about the city.
For me, one of the most important things is to enjoy the local delicious food. We can judge (判断) a city on how cheap it is by the food, and the food in Berlin is very cheap. Not just street food, even in the restaurants there are bargains. You can find a lot of meals for less than 5 Euros. Here is a truth for you—the lemons (柠檬) and the fresh vegetables are mouthwatering.
After this visit, I enjoy Berlin more. Though I may not ever live there, I’d happily go back and visit over and over again.

In ancient times, children didn’t have smart phones, iPads or computers to enjoy themselves. Instead, they came up with interesting games to play in their childhood. Let’s take a look.
★ Playing stone balls
During the Qing dynasty, kicking a stone ball around was a popular sport in the northern part of China, and kids often played it in winter to keep warm. Stones were made into small balls and then kids kicked them.
★ Playing hide-and-seek
Hide-and-seek is a traditional game for children, popular around the world. There are two ways to play: covering a child’s eyes while other kids run around to make fun of him or, more commonly, some kids hide and one child must try to find them.
★ Watching shadow plays (皮影戏)
Watching shadow plays was very popular during the Song dynasty. Shadow puppets (木偶) were made from the leather of donkeys (驴皮). There was light behind a large white screen on the table, the player controlled puppets and told stories. People could see the movement from the other side of the screen.
★ Playing diabolo (空竹)
Diabolo passed down to common people during the Ming dynasty. It’s made of wood and bamboo, and is empty in the center. Throwing and catching the high-speed turning diabolo on ropes (绳索) always makes a sound.
★ Kicking shuttlecocks
Shuttlecock kicking appeared in the Han dynasty. People used chicken feathers to make a shuttlecock. It was kicked in groups of three or four.

How do you feel about eating vegetables? Do you think you would eat more if you had been rewarded (奖励) for trying them in the first place?
One study in the Netherlands has found that children will be more willing to (更愿意) eat vegetables if they are rewarded for trying them.
Britt van Belkom worked on the study. She said, “Young children have to try a new vegetable 8 to 10 times before they like it. So we looked at whether asking children to try some vegetables over and over again would make them more willing to eat their greens. We were also interested in whether providing a fun reward would make a difference.
Almost 600 children aged 1-4 took part in the study. They were divided into 3 groups. Group A got vegetables to try every day, but there was no reward for trying them. Group B didn’t get any vegetables to try or any rewards. Group C got vegetables to try and then a reward. The rewards were not about food like candies or chocolates, but things such as stickers (贴纸) and toys.
Before the study, Britt asked all the children how willing they were to try vegetables, and then asked the same question 3 months later.
The children in Group A didn’t change their willingness to try vegetables. And the children in Group B were actually less willing to try vegetables! However, the children in Group C were willing to eat more vegetables at the end of the study.
Britt said, “Rewarding children for tasting vegetables seems to also increase their willingness to try other vegetables.”
What rewards would encourage you to eat more healthily and is it a good idea to reward healthy eating? Anyway, share the way with your parents.
