Dumplings are traditional Chinese food. On the Chinese New Year’s Day, most families make a lot of delicious dumplings. To make them, we can follow these easy steps (步骤).
The first step is to mix the flour (面粉) with water. When the dough (面团) is ready, we can start to make dumpling wrappers. In this way, we make the dough become big, thin and round pieces so that they can be easy to cook. Then it’s time to make the filling. Usually, we use meat such as beef or pork, and some vegetables for filling. Remember to cut these things into small pieces. Finally, put some salt and oil into it and mix them.
When all these are ready, we can start making dumplings. First put a spoon of filling in the center of the wrappers. Then stick (粘) two sides together. The best shape of dumplings is like a ship. When they are in the pot, they look like ships sailing in the sea. The smell can make your mouth water.

When my two children were young, my husband (丈夫) and I took a trip to Disneyland with their grandma. Although the park is only about an hour’s car ride from our home, we decided to spend the night in a hotel. Then we could spend more time in the park.
In the evening, the famous Disneyland Parade (游行) started. My husband took our daughter and ran to have a look, leaving me with grandma and our son who was in a stroller (婴儿车). Because I am short, and grandma is shorter, we couldn’t see them, and didn’t know where they were. Grandma decided to find them. I told her not to, because I didn’t want to lose her. But she still left, and was soon lost.
I made my way to the exit (出口) because I thought everyone would get there, and they did. Then we waited for the hotel bus—it never came. So we called them. They told us that there was something wrong with their bus, so we have to take a taxi. We finally got back to our hotel.

Do you know the movie I, Robot? It tells us a story about the relationship between robots and humans in the future. The year is 2035 and robots are just as common as smart phones. People depend on (依靠) their robots to do lots of things, such as babysitting, cooking, doing housework and taking their dogs for a walk. Robots have to follow humans’ orders, because their designers (设计者) make them do so. A police officer called Spooner dislikes robots. He doesn’t think humans can live with their robots well at all! A ▲ Susan thinks one day robots will become more powerful (强大的) than humans and help humans to make progress (进步).
When Spooner and Susan work together, they find that something is wrong with the world’s robots. A few robots have their own ideas and they’re trying to get out of humans’ control (控制)! ①How would you feel if someone decided to take away your park? Well, that’s what’s happening in my community. There’s a park that some people want to turn into a golf course (高尔夫球场). Let me tell you why I think it’s a bad idea.
②First, a community park should open for everyone. But not everyone likes golf, so not every-one will get to use it.
③Second, to build the golf course, lots of playground equipment (设备) will have to be moved away. It is a waste (浪费) of time and money. It’s also a waste of good equipment.
④Third, what about giving young people something to do? Not all kids are interested in golf. Now, there are a skating place and a playground in the park. Children like doing so a lot. If you turn the park into a golf course, these kids won’t have anywhere to go and anything to do. This means that they will stay at home and turn on a video game. It also means that they might be out on the street to play. Wouldn’t it be better to give them something to do at the park?
⑤Finally, golf is expensive. Building and maintaining (维护) a golf course cost a lot of money. Who is going to pay to maintain the golf course?
⑥Turning our park into a golf course is a bad idea. I suggest we should have a community meeting before plans go any further.
