My name is Maria. Last week, we had a math exam (考试). The following is the information about my good friends and our grades in the exam.

Nick is a 14-year-old schoolboy. His life is full of exams and studies on weekdays. He has little free time. He thinks playing computer games is the best way to relax. When he has free time, he sits in front of the computer. Just like that way, he doesn’t eat or drink for some hours.

Last weekend, he played games in front of the computer again. He was too excited and didn’t want to move. He didn’t have anything for six hours. When he had to go to the bathroom (卫生间), he found he could not move. He was sent (送) to the hospital. The doctor told him he should do some different kinds of activities. In other words, he needs more exercise to make him have a healthy body.

After coming back from the hospital, Nick follows the doctor’s advice (建议). He often plays soccer with his friends. Sometimes he still plays computer games on weekends, but he never does it for long. Now, he lives a happy and healthy life.

Nick was a proud (自负的) boy. He thought that he was the best in everything he did. When he lost, he would always find excuses (借口).

One Friday, Randy and Jack came to play badminton. Jack was much better at badminton than Randy. After about half an hour, Randy said to Jack,“Oh, I need to take a rest. I have to say that you are really good at this game.” Their classmate Nick heard this. He laughed out loud and said, “Randy, that’s because you are really bad at the sport. I am the best of the three of us. ” Then, he asked Jack if he would like to play with him. Jack said,“OK.” Then, the two began to play.

As a tall boy, Nick showed great skills (技巧) at playing badminton. It was not easy for Jack to win, but still, he won the game. To Jack’s surprise, Nick said, “I can win if I have a racket (球拍) as good as yours ” However, Jack didn’t think so   He said, “Let’s swap rackets to play again.”

Unluckily for Nick, he still lost the game. This time round, Nick had no excuses. He was sad and planned to leave. However, Jack went over to him, said, “Do not be sad! You are a great player, too.” Hearing this, Nick learned that he could not be too proud because there would always be somebody better than him.

Five years ago, Lydia first came to a new school. She felt very lonely (孤独的) because she     34     had any friends. The service in the teahouses is really friendly. When you go into a teahouse, the waiters or waitresses greet (打招呼) you with smiles on their faces and with teapots and cups in their hands. After you sit down, they set the cups on the table and pour (倒) the tea into the cups.

People who go to the teahouses are not really thirsty (口渴的). They go to a teahouse and will sit there all day long to talk with each other. These days, more and more people go to teahouses for business (生意) talks. Some teahouses also have programs, such as storytelling and Sichuan Opera.
