My name is Olivia. I am 8 years old and live in Maine. My parents were separated (分开) from each other when I was 6 years old. This caused a lot of changes in my life.
I was surprised when they told me their decision. On my dad’s last day at home, I felt very sad. So did my dad.
After my mom and dad got divorced (离婚), my dad moved to a different town. My mom and I also moved. I missed my dad. These are all things that changed in my life. But there were lots of things that did not change. I still go to the same school. Even though I live in a new neighborhood, I still have the same friends at my school. When changes happened in my family, it took a while to get used to them. It was hard at first to understand all. Sometimes I missed my dad a lot and I felt lonely. I began to be more afraid of things, like the dark, and sleeping on my own. Talking with social workers (社工) was helpful. With their help, I got through the most difficult parts of my parents’ divorce. So when you are in trouble in life, you can turn to them for help.
If big changes happen in your life, you may feel worried and confused (迷惑的) about who will take care of you. You may be angry at your parents’ decisions. You could feel all kinds of these feelings. But that is normal. Just remember life changes. You have to learn to fit in with these changes. What has helped me most is writing down my thoughts along the way. I hope you can benefit from my story.

The weather gets warm and everything comes back to life. The cycling season begins. Riding a bike can be a lot of fun, but bike accidents can be pretty serious if you’re not careful. It’s important that all the young riders should follow bicycle safety tips while riding bikes.
Of course the suitable equipment is the most important. Wearing a helmet is the first basic safety rule of bike riding. A helmet will help you protect from a head injury. Remember that light and bright colors are the best, and all the teenagers should choose the helmets that fit themselves well, especially children under the age of ten. Gloves will make you feel more comfortable during riding. And they will protect the riders’ hands when falling. It is necessary to wear bright clothes, so all road users can see you.
Except the equipment, you should make sure you’re always looking ahead on the road. When you’re riding on the road, it’s important to use hand signals to let others know whether you’re turning, slowing down or stopping. When you cross the street, you should get off and walk your bicycle.
All in all, safety is the first thing to consider when riding.

I spent my holiday with my parents in Shanghai last summer. It took us ten hours from my hometown—Beijing to Shanghai by train. The city was wonderful and made me excited.
Walking along the road, we soon arrived at the People’s Square. I found that a lot of old people danced and many children flew kites there. We went into the Shanghai Museum as well because my father likes collecting old things.
We had a delicious lunch in an old restaurant in the old town area. Then we were so tired that we took a taxi back to our hotel. We took many photos there.
I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours,
Li Wei
