If a snake bites you, take a photo with your mobile phone! It may save your life. This is the surprising advice of a British cook.
One day Henry Jackson was working in a restaurant kitchen. He picked up a dish from the table, and suddenly a snake appeared... and bit him on the hand.
A few days earlier, the snake came to the restaurant from Asia in a box of bananas. It climbed out of the box and hid under the dish.
"I went to try to pick it up and it bit me again. I threw it across the kitchen, and it landed in the fridge. So I closed the door," Mr. Jackson said.
Anyway, Mr. Jackson stayed cool and he took a photo of the snake with his mobile phone. Soon his hand began to ache and he went to hospital. Then his chest began to hurt. Doctors couldn't say what was wrong because they didn't know what kind of snake it was.
Then Mr. Jackson remembered his mobile phone photo. The doctors sent it to London Zoo. When they knew the kind of snake, they could give Mr. Jackson the right medicine, and he left hospital the next day.
"So my advice is this: if a snake bites you, pick up your phone. Take its photo first and then show the photo to the doctors," suggests Mr. Jackson. "Oh, and if the snake doesn't smile for its photo, don't worry."

Are you still doing the V for victory sign? It’s out. The latest popular hand gesture(手势)is to curl both of your hands and put them together to make a heart—shape. Known as “hand heart”, many young stars in the US including Justin Bieber , Blake Lively and Taylor Swift have done the move in recent photos.
“The heart — hand gesture means something between ‘I love you’ and ‘thank you’, ”said the country singer Taylor Swift,21.”It’s a sweet, simple message which you can send without saying a word.”

“It used to take longer for nonverbal(不用语言的)culture to move. But now ,with smart phones and the Internet, it’s much faster,” said Patti Wood, an American language expert.

Around the world more and more people are taking part in dangerous sports and activities. 47 ---those who have climbed the highest mountains, traveled into unknown parts of the world or sailed in small boats across the greatest oceans.
48 I would consider bungee(蹦极) jumping to be a good example of such an activity. You jump from a high place(perhaps a bridge or a hot-air balloon) 200 meters above the ground with an elastic(有弹性的) rope tied to your ankles. You fall at up to 150 kilometers an hour until the rope stops you from hitting the ground. 49 Other activities which most people would say are as risky as bungee jumping include jumping from tall buildings and diving into the sea from the top of high cliff(悬崖).
For the reasons, some psychologists explain that many people think their life in modern societies has become safe and boring. 50 They had to go out and hunt for food, diseases could not easily be cured, and life was a continuous battle (战争)for survival.
Nowadays, according to many people, life offers little excitement. They live and work in comparatively safe conditions; they buy food in shops; and there are doctors and hospitals to look after them if they become ill. 51
