Art is considered as an important part of society as well as an expression of its culture. It is also an important way to express people’s opinions. When we look at the pictures, the difference between classical and ordinary (普通的) paintings lies in the artists’ thoughts. Famous artists implanted (注入) their ideas in the pictures, which were accepted by the public, so the value of art can be seen. Behind the success, many famous artists experienced a lot during their lifetimes.
The artists like Monet, whose works belong to impressionism, liked to paint outdoors when it was sunny. They got together to start the Impressionist Movement. This style of paintings became popular as a result. Monet was a master artist during his time. Though he had a difficult life, he helped make impressionism art famous.
In the Chinese art museums, Xu Beihong’s works are famous and popular. He is known for his shuimohua (Chinese ink paintings) of horses and birds and he is one of the first Chinese artists to tell the need for artistic expressions that showed a new modern China at the beginning of the 20th century. He is also considered as the first artist to use the Western art skills while he was painting.
It is commonly believed that art cannot only help us learn about beauty, history and culture, but it is also helpful to children in different ways.
Why is art helpful to children? ●________ When they reach adulthood, children can fit into the new environment better with the development of imagination and creativity. ●Secondly, art provides a way they can express their emotions and feelings. Art makes it easier for children to communicate with each other about their emotions, feelings and ideas. ●Finally, art makes children have a healthy development of minds and bodies. The children who learn art can be braver in the face of difficulties. |

Welcome to Teens Voice. I’m Amy. Today, we have Shaine Kilyun with us. She sets up the “Wheel Power for Pets" project to help animals that can’t move easily. |
Amy: Shaine, why did you decide to do the project? Shaine: I have loved all kinds of animals for as long as I can remember. Last year, I read about news reports that showed there were many animals with difficulty getting around in shelters (收容所). How could I help them?—This was the “driving question” that drove me to start my project. After comparing several ways, I finally decided to build wheelchairs and send them to shelters for free. Amy: How did you make wheelchairs?Shaine: I had no idea at first so I invited my two friends, Simon and Jill, to join me. We did research on how to build wheelchairs, such as reading science books and watching videos. Then we visited a shelter and decided which animal to help. We made wheelchairs according to the size of the animals and the type of support they needed. Amy: Good for you! What do you learn from your project? Shaine: Doing the project took lots of efforts, and I couldn’t have completed it without Simon and Jill. Simon was good at physics. With his help, we fully understood how wheelchairs worked. Jill drew well and she could make a perfect drawing of the special wheelchair for each animal. I have to say many hands make light work! |
