You can see that film from Monday to Thursday. It will be on twice a day at 6:30 and 9:10 in the evenings. The film lasts two hours and fifteen minutes. Tickets are $ 4, but there is a special student ticket at $2.60 for all the films. Please bring your student card if you want the cheaper ticket.

【推荐1】In Britain, Australia, Canada and a few other English speaking countries, people don’t stop celebrating when Christmas Day is over. They also celebrate the following day, known as Boxing Day. It is a popular day for giving additional（另外的）gifts. It has been celebrated for so long, but nobody exactly knows how it started.

Some people believe Boxing Day began in the Middle Ages. In those days, in some special places there were special collection boxes where people threw money for the poor. The day after Christmas the boxes were opened, and the money was counted. Then the money went to helping the poor in the area.

Others believe Boxing Day started about 300 years ago when some rich people had Christmas feasts（盛宴）. They offered lots of food to their guests. Because many servants（仆人）were needed to make and serve the food, they could not celebrate Christmas with their families. To thank them, the rich people would put food into boxes for their servants to take home.

Now Boxing Day has become a public holiday in some countries. Some people spend the day boxing up old or unwanted things and donating（捐赠）them to the poor. Many people are active in helping service organizations（组织）like the Red Cross.

No matter how Boxing Day got its start, it’s a wonderful time to donate things or give small gifts to people. By doing so, you can make someone’s holiday much happier.

School days start at 8:30 a.m. and finish at 3:30 p.m. Kathy usually goes to school at 8:00 a.m. It only takes her about 15 minutes to walk to school, so she is never late for school. In Kathy’s school, every student must learn French and English. Kathy doesn’t like French because it is not easy for her to learn it well.

After school, Kathy often goes to the Art Club. She likes drawing very much and she is also good at it.

The summer holiday in England begins at the end of July and the winter holiday starts in the middle of December. In summer holiday, Kathy enjoys swimming and riding a bike. In winter holiday, she likes to go skating.

【推荐3】China is a country with many colorful days and festivals. The Dragon Head Raising Day —Longtaitou is one of them.

This special day is on the second day of the second month in the Chinese lunar calendar (农历).It stands for the start of spring and farming. In 2020,the day falls on February 24th.

The dragon is important in Chinese culture. We Chinese people call ourselves the “descendants (传人)of the dragon”.Therefore people celebrate the Dragon Head Raising Day with many customs about dragons.

On the day in ancient times people put ashes (灰)in the kitchen. This was to “lead the dragon into the house”.People believed that with the help of the dragon they could have a good harvest in autumn.

Also people eat special foods on that day. The foods are usually named after dragons. For example people eat “dragon whisker (须)” noodles and dumplings called “dragon teeth”.

Today many customs have faded away (逐渐消失).But one that has remained is the cutting of hair. It was said that a haircut during the first lunar month may bring bad luck to the mother's brothers. So many people have their hair cut on the Dragon Head Raising Day.

Welcome back! The new school year is at a new start. The teachers and I are here to help you study. I would like you to note (注意) a few things.

1. School uniform

Come to school in uniform. If your school uniform is small, please ask your parents to buy a new one. Also, keep your hair clean.

2. Being on time

Come to school before 8 o’ clock in the morning and 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Some students were often late last year. This was not good. Remember not to stay up late.

3. After-school activities

For this school year, we have two new sports for you: soccer and volleyball. There are also many other activities from last year, like singing, dancing and chess. You can join in your favorite activities.

Please hand in (上交) your summer holiday workbook tomorrow. Also, bring $10 for the exercise books to your class teachers next Monday.
