There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge (评价) things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest (探索), in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was far away.

The first son went in winter,the second in spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in fall.

When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly and bent.

The second son said, “No. It was covered with green buds (芽) and full of promise.”

The third son disagreed. He said it was full of blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe with fruit, full of life and fulfillment (成就).

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen only one season in the tree’s life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree by only one season, and that a person can only be judged at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it’s winter, you will miss the promise of your spring, the beauty of your summer and fulfillment of your fall.

Don’t judge a life by one difficult season. Don’t let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.

【推荐3】In spring last year, students at Nanjing University visited an exhibition (展览) of paintings in front of the school ding hall. There was something special about the exhibition: all the works came from a student dorm (宿舍) cleaner. Their themes were from simple plants to more complex (复杂的) objects.

48-year-old Wu Lidi became widely known by students of this university for her paintings. They called her “a cleaning lady who could have become an artist”. During the exhibition, many students left handwritten messages to express their thanks and best wishes to Wu, which surprised and touched Wu a lot.

Wu has never received any professional training in painting. With a great interest in painting, she used to create blackboard newspapers for her class as a student. Later she worked as a cleaner at Nanjing University and started painting again by accident. One day, a student who was supposed to create a blackboard newspaper didn’t return to school in time. The blackboard only had a few words reading “Welcome Home”. Seeing that, Wu volunteered to improve the blackboard newspaper by creating some pictures on it.

Since then, Wu has put more energy into painting on blackboards. She learns and practices painting skills online in her spare time. As she’s responsible for cleaning a whole building, she’s always busy. But she still takes her time to paint and that has never influenced her work. “I love doing it, and I hope students will feel happy to see my paintings,” she said.

【推荐1】On April 2, we said goodbye to Tiangong Ⅰ, China’s first space lab. According to the China Manned Space Agency(中国载人航天局), Tiangong Ⅰ re-entered the Earth’s atmosphere(大气层) and some of its debris(碎片) fell into the South Pacific Ocean.

There are many spacecraft(宇宙飞船) that are still in orbit(轨道) above the Earth. After finishing their trips, they will all re-enter the Earth’s atmosphere like Tiangong Ⅰ.

There are two types of re-entries: controlled re-entry and uncontrolled re-entry. Some satellites and manned spacecraft come back to the Earth in a controlled re-entry. Experts calculate(计算) the path of the falling spacecraft and its speed. They can guide the spacecraft to fall in a chosen area.

Some spacecraft may have problems while in space after a certain amount of time. These spacecraft come back in an uncontrolled re-entry. It is hard to tell when and where these spacecraft will fall until the last few hours. The US space station Skylab came back partially uncontrolled in 1979. Parts of the station fell in western Australia, but no one was hurt.

During re-entry, most of the spacecraft will burn up while passing through the Earth’s atmosphere. Only a small amount of the debris will reach the ground. The debris typically ends up falling into the ocean, China Daily reported.

An art festival that calls attention to Chinese opera cartoons will kick off in Beijing on Thursday, Feb 4 and run until Feb 26. The cartoon characters look lively and cute, which can quickly be loved by the public. Activities will also be held during the festival, such as showing the primary posters and writings, and opera costurnes.

Since the festival is mainly held online, people can take part in the activities by watching videos on online short-video platforms (平台) like Douyin and Huoshan Video, known as Tik Tok and Vigo Video outside China.

People can also enjoy a 360-degree wide view of the activities online. By clicking a mouse of a computer or using a mobile phone, people can choose wherever they like to view the activities at home.
