Tianwen 1 (天问一号) is China’s first Mars probe (火星探测器). Where does the name come from? Do you still remember Qu Yuan, a famous poet in ancient China? He loved his motherland very much. His long poem “Heavenly Questions (天问)”expresses the continual hard work and the great spirit of the Chinese nation to science. That is why Tianwen 1 was officially named, which is quite cultural and beautiful.
On July 14, 2020. Tianwen 1 arrived at the Wenchang Space Launch Site (发射站) in Hainan Province. The space probe Tiamwen 1 was sent into space at 12:41 p. m. on July 23, 2020. It took Tianwen 1 about seven months to travel to Mars.
China’s Mars rover (火星车), Zhurong(祝融), named after the Chinese god of fire, landed safely on Mars on May 15, 2021, making China the second country in history to have a rover on Mars.

Also, we can put sugar, eggs or other things in them. I like dumplings with vegetables and pork best. Usually people make dumplings at home. If you are busy with your work, you can buy the take-away dumplings from any supermarkets. Then you take them home. Or you can enjoy them in a restaurant. The Spring Festival is the most important in China. When it comes, we usually make dumplings. Usually we put a coin in a dumpling. If one eats the dumpling with the coin in it, he will be lucky in the whole year. Welcome to China! We will invite you to eat the traditional (传统的) food—dumplings.

Dolphins are amazing animals.
They are usually blue. They are good at swimming.
Some dolphins can live up to 50 years. They live in large groups and eat fish. They have to sleep 8 hours a day.
Dolphins are mammals (哺乳动物). They have warm blood and drink their mothers’ milk. They also have to go to the surface to breathe.
Dolphins can stay under water for 15 minutes, and can swim as deep as 260 meters below the surface (水面). The fastest dolphins can swim up to 32 km per hour.
Dolphins live in groups and sing or whistle to each other. They are clever and friendly.

Welcome home! On April 16, astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu safely came back to Earth from the Tiangong space station. There are many interesting facts about their landing. Let’s take a look!
★ 1
When the Shenzhou XII came back from the space station in 2021, it took about 28 hours. This time, Shenzhou XIII cut down the number of orbits(环绕地球圈数) from eleven to five. It took just 9 hours to return!
★ 2
The re-entry capsule(返回舱) landed upright(直立的). This landing position is rare in China’s space flight history. Only Shenzhou VI and Shenzhou XIII have successfully done so. To achieve this, astronauts must let go off the parachute(降落伞) with precise timing. Landing upright makes sure that astronauts have the softest landing.
★ 3
The astronauts felt good after landing. But they still needed to sit on chairs. They need to spend a long time in recovering. Their muscles(肌肉) and bones became weaker. In the next few months, they will gradually get used to Earth’s gravity(重力).
★ 4
The astronauts said they missed food on Earth! It included noodles, porridge, shredded potatoes with vinegar(醋溜土豆丝), Sichuan sausages and yogurt. A tasty and healthy meal was waiting for them.

This year, The First Class for New School Year (开学第一课) was taught in the Chinese space station. Nie Haisheng, Liu Boming and Tang Hongbo gave lessons.
Liu Boming took the students to the space station, showing the space kitchen, three meals a day, drinking water and other things.
Nie showed dizi and brought a special family photo of all the astronauts.
Tang Hongbo made two scientific experiments for the students. Tang also sent a message to students, “The road of long is long and do not give up your dream because of difficulties and challenges (挑战). I believe that in the near future and I will be a better person. ”
At last, the three led children on the spot to play “sky patrol Tai Chi”.

3. What did Liu Boming show to students?
4. Did Nie make two scientific experiments for students?
5. Do you want to be an astronaut? Why?
During their three-month stay in the Tiangong space station, the Chinese astronauts had over 120 different kinds of food to choose from. There was gongbao chicken, fresh fruit and vegetables, and even ice-cream. The astronauts could also have some drinks like tea and juice. They hardly needed to eat the same thing twice in one week. Cooks made the food to meet the astronauts’ tastes before they went into space.
In the space station, there was a food icebox to put fruit and vegetables in, and the astronauts could also heat(加热)their food. The astronauts’ food needs to be healthy and at the same time, it should be easy to eat and make little waste(垃圾). So apples are better food than oranges in space. Apples are nutritionally rich(营养丰富)and can keep fresh for a long time, and they are also convenient to eat. The food waste usually went into special bags in the space station and ended up burning up(被烧掉).
Life in the Tiangong space station was much better than that in the earlier Chinese spacecraft(宇宙飞船). The astronauts are now able to enjoy fresh food even in space.

3. Who prepared the food for the astronauts before they went into space?

Living on the ISS
Hello everyone, my name is Jessica Meir. I am an astronaut. I work on the International Space Station(国际空间站,缩写为ISS) as a flight engineer. Today, I will tell you something about what life is like on the ISS.
The ISS has over 425 cubic meters(立方米) of living space. I work here with astronauts from the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada and several other European countries. When we are on the ISS, we have to follow a detailed daily schedule. It tells us when to get up, eat, exercise, work, relax and go to sleep. We spend about two hours each day exercising. Without regular exercise, we would lose a certain amount of muscle and bone due to the microgravity (微重力) environment in space.
The food we eat is specifically designed for space missions. Some foods, such as cakes, can be eaten in space just the way they are eaten on the Earth. But some other foods are real challenges. For example, when you’re in space, you can’t shake salt onto food, because the salt would float away. As a result, we have to use special liquid salt.
When we are not busy doing experiments on the ISS, we can relax and have fun in a variety of ways. Like most of you, we listen to music, read books, play cards, watch movies and talk with our family members.
As you can see, the microgravity environment in space brings many challenges that don’t exist on the Earth. Would you like to live for some time on the ISS?
Yours sincerely,
Jessica Meir
