Many Chinese liked to travel abroad or across cities on vacation, but now camping has become more and more popular with them because of COVID-19.
A report by online travel website Tongcheng Travel showed that during the recent National Day holiday, camping-related searches rose a lot compared with that in September. Forests and islands were two most popular key words.
Li Nan, 31, from Zhejiang, went camping with her friends in the mountains during the holiday. “We liked to visit museums or travel to other cities. But now we just go camping and we find it’s relaxing,” Li told China Daily. She said camping is a good way to get closer to nature and enjoy sports and activities outside.
This growing popularity has also made the sale of camping-related tools greater, such as tents, tables and chairs, and sleeping bags. Trip, an online travel agency, said the number of visit for their camping tools on Oct. 1st rose by 90 percent compared with the week before.
However, the need for camping space is greater than that for the tools. “Everywhere is full of people and there is a tent every several meters,” a tourist from Beijing told Global times.
Besides, camping isn’t always good for the local environment. In a camping place in Beijing’s Mountain Shuangfeng, some of the land has become barren (荒芜的) because of too many visitors walking on it. Trash, like bamboo chopsticks and disposable plates (一次性餐盘), could be seen everywhere, reported Xinhua.
The government needs to provide more green space for tourists and call on people to protect the environment while camping, said some environmental researchers.

Do you know China’s Teeth Care Day? It falls on September 20 every year. It began in 1989. Its aim(目标)is to take good care of people’s teeth.
There are thirty—eight students in Wang Bin’s class, and eleven of them have tooth problems that bring them much trouble.
Mao Kang said, “I had three bad teeth. I spent four hundred yuan on each tooth, and I had to see the dentist five times.”
Liu Juan said, “Something is wrong with my front teeth, I don’t like to open my mouth. My classmates say my teeth look like an old woman’s, I’m sad to hear that. And I can’t speak clearly now.”
Do you have good teeth, my friends? If you want to take care of your teeth, please do these:
◆Brush your teeth at least twice a day. If you can, brush them after every meal.
◆Brush all your teeth, do not just brush the front ones.
◆Brush your teeth slowly and carefully. Spend three minutes or more each time.
◆Do not use your teeth as tools to open bottles. It’s very easy to hurt your teeth to do such jobs.
◆Use soft toothbrushes(牙刷). Get a new toothbrush every three months.

But Dylan spent almost the whole ten days of his trip building houses for people there. It was hard and dirty work. We never thought that he would enjoy it, but he loved every minute of it.

Typhoons are some of the worst storms, usually around the Pacific Ocean and the South China Sea. Most happen in July, August and September.
How does a typhoon happen? When lots of sea water gets hot in the summer sun, it evaporates(蒸发) into the air. This makes the air hotter. When the air gets warm enough, it starts to move higher up into the sky. Then cooler air around it rushes in. It fills the space that is left. After the air gets warmer, it starts to move quickly, making wind. The wind goes in circles(圆圈) and it keeps moving higher in the sky. The warmer the air gets, the quicker the wind moves. And when the wind moves faster than 30 metres a second, a typhoon begins.
A typhoon has two parts. One is called the “eye”. In the eye, the wind does not move so fast.
The other part is the wall of clouds around the eye. This is where the strongest winds and hardest rain are.
Typhoons are very dangerous. In November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan killed around 6,000 people in Philippines. More people were injured(受伤) and some others were missing. What should we do when a typhoon hits?
·Stay inside. Close all the windows and stay away from them.
·Try to bring all of your things inside. Strong winds could even blow away your bikes!

Once there was a girl called Iris who really liked playing football with the boys in her class. She was special because she never liked to do the things other girls do.
The boys in her class liked Iris to play with them because she was a better football player.
One day, Iris’ girl friends began to ignore her just because she liked football. Iris felt very grieved, but she couldn’t understand why.
One morning, Iris saw her friend Caroline and decided to talk to her:
“Hi Caroline. Why don’t you want me as your friend? Is it because I like to play football with the boys?”
“Yes, because you look like a boy, you play football or ride a bike with the boys.”
That stupid reason affected Iris, who answered: “I play with the boys because you don’t like playing sport and I do. But I also like to play with you and that should not be an inconvenience”.
Days passed and one morning Caroline and the other girls went over to Iris.
“Iris, we have been thinking about what you said and you’re right. If you like to play football, it doesn’t mean you are a boy, and if you like to be with us, well then we like it too. Our friendship is the most important here, so, we are sorry, and we will ________”.

Everyone needs friends. There is an old saying, “Friends are God’s way of taking care of us.” But how do you find real friendship and keep it? The American writer Sally Seamans tells young students some smart ways to find friends. Sally says finding friendship is just like planting a tree. You plant the seed and take care of it to make it grow. First, you should choose a friend. What makes a good friend? It is not because a person has money or good looks. A good friend should be kind and patient. For example, if you have a bad day, a good friend should listen to your complaints(抱怨)and do his or her best to help you. To make a friend, you can’t be too shy. You should make each other happy and share your lives. But things can’t always be happy. Even the best friends have fights. What should you do when you have a fight with your friend? You have to talk to him or her. When there is no one around, have an honest talk. If he or she doesn’t want to talk, you could write a letter. Sally says there are some steps to be friends again: Tell him or her how you are feeling; say what your friend has done wrong, and explain why you did this or that. Remember that friendship is the most important thing in your life.
