Most people want to be happy, but few know how to find happiness. 4.Money and success alone do not bring lasting (持久的) feeling of happiness and satisfaction. Aristotle, a Greek thinker, said, “Happiness depends on ourselves”. In other words, we make our own happiness. Here are a few suggestions to help you be happier.
The first secret of happiness is to enjoy the simple things in life. Too often, we spend so much time thinking about the future—for example, getting into college or getting a good job—that we fail to enjoy the present. You should enjoy life’s simple pleasure, such as reading a good book, listening to your favorite music, or spending time with close friends. 5.朋友对我们的生活有很大的影响。People who have several friends often live happier and healthier lives.
Another secret to living a happy life is to be active. Many people go dancing or play sports. People can forget about their problems and only think about the activities.
Finally, many people find happiness in helping others. Studies show that people feel good when they spend their time helping others. If you want to feel happier, do good things for someone. You can help a friend with his or her studies, go shopping to buy food for an elderly person, or simply help out around the house by washing the dishes.

China’s new ecommerce law came into effect on January 1. According to data from the China ECommerce Research Center, online retail sales of goods and services in China in 2017 added up to 7, 175 billion yuan. This amount made up 19.6 percent of total retail sales. Meanwhile, there are growing concerns in China about consumer protection.
The new law aims to regulate the market and create a safe consumption environment. It requires the sellers on ecommerce platforms and social media to register as ecommerce operators and to pay taxes as well. Those who break the law could be fined up to two million yuan.
The new law will apply to three types of operators. The first group is the ecommerce platform business like Taobao. The second one is the thirdparty merchant who sells goods and services on ecommerce platforms. And the third one is the individual who does business on other network channels and websites, such as WeChat.
With the new law falling into place, consumers’ rights will be better protected. It covers rules on fake products, false advertising, returning deposits and security of personal information. Besides, the law will help clean up China’s reputation as a major source of fake products. In the long term, consumers will benefit from it.

Have you ever unlocked a Hello Bike? Have you ever used Meituan to order a meal? Have you ever enjoyed watching the short-form videos on Douyin? Well, if no one had invented the cell phone, none of these would have been possible.
Luckily, someone did invent the cell phone. That person is Martin Cooper, and he did that 51 years ago, in 1973.
Cooper used to work for Motorola. In the 1970s, the company was competing with AT&T, a larger company, to make a cell phone system. Cooper didn’t think Motorola’s product was good enough. He didn’t like AT&T’s idea of a car phone, either. The man wanted to give the world something new. He wanted to make it possible for people to talk on their phones anywhere.
It took Cooper and his team 90 days to design (设计) the world’s first cell phone. The product was called DynaTAC. People could talk on it for 25 minutes before its battery (电池) died. The phone’s short battery life wasn’t a big problem, Cooper once joked. Why? Well, the phone was too heavy (1, 100 grams) to hold in hand for too long!
On April 3, 1973, Cooper made the world’s first public cell phone call. He called Joel Engel, an AT&T manager. Cooper told Engel, “I’m calling you on a cell phone. It’s a real, handheld cell phone.” On the other end of the line, there was only silence.
Cell phones have changed a lot since that first call. They’re much smaller and can do many more things. Cooper, now 96, is surprised at the progress. But the man has also kept thinking about life in the future. “I must keep learning all my life,” he says. “Or I’ll lose the ability to learn—that would be terrible!”

However, Su almost fell in love with the sport immediately. Su used to be a child film star. But 7 years ago when China won the right to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, he realized this could be a life-changing opportunity (机会). So, Su decided to focus fully on snowboarding.
“I only have one word to describe my feelings for snowboarding; it’s love, deep from my heart,” Su said. “It’s my happiest moment when I stand on the snowboard. No matter how long I train, even for 7 or 8 hours in a row, I feel happy. Love is what has been supporting me all the time. This is the story of a boy who grew up to be a great footballer. His name is Pelé (贝利), and he was born in 1940 in a small village, in Brazil.
Pelé’s father was a professional footballer, but a serious injury (重伤) meant that he never made much money from the game. So Pelé’s family was quite poor.
Pelé did lots of jobs to help his parents. But he also played football in the streets with his friends. He decided he wanted to be a footballer like his father. He played for several local teams, then he was given a chance by a big club called Santos when he was 15. He was very talented, so Santos chose him for the team.
Then he was chosen to play for his country, Brazil. In his first two international games, he scored three goals. Soon football fans started calling him “The Black Pearl (珍珠)”.
There was a World Cup coming up in Sweden, and he was picked for the team. Pelé was 18 when he arrived in Sweden in 1958. He was the youngest player in the Brazilian team, but everyone was expecting great things from him. Pelé didn’t let everyone down. Thanks to him, Brazil won the World Cup. Pelé became famous all around the world after that.
Unfortunately, he was injured in the 1962 and 1966 World Cup. Pelé watched sadly as Brazil went on to win the cup without him in 1962. He wondered if he would ever play for Brazil again. Finally, he showed to the world that he was still the greatest player at the heart of the greatest team. He helped his country won the World Cup for the third time in 1970.
Pelé never played in another World Cup and retired (退休) as a player in 1977. He is probably the most famous footballer ever. The Brazilians call Pele the King of Football!
