Failure (失败) is a part of life since our earliest moment of life. We often think of failure as something bad.
Don’t be afraid of failure
Failure is how we learn. If we never fail at something, we probably haven’t learned all that life has to teach us. So failure means taking something away from the experience.
Never stop trying
Trying or learning something new is often half the battle (战斗), don’t give up trying. You may get disappointed because of failure.
Nobody can be our safety nets all the time in our lives. Only we can act as our own safety nets. Become your own best friend, do everything that you can possibly do for yourself.
Don’t look back
We spend too much of our lives looking back.

It’s always easier to say “Yes” because most of us want to please other people. Somebody asks you to go for a party but you have tests the next day, or to help them although you are busy at the moment, or to join the activities you have no interest at all! Even though your heart is crying NO, you find the word “Yes” come out of your mouth. However, it usually results in anger—not only for the person who asked you, but also for yourself for not being strong enough.
Lisa Messenger, the Collective Hub CEO, said in her first few years of business, many people asked her to talk over a coffee. Actually, she usually ended up having 20 coffee meetings a week and that stopped her from doing business because she didn’t have time to do her own work.
Messenger finally learned to refuse like “No, I’m sorry, but I don’t have time.”. She believes if you say “Yes”, you will regret later. Or your heart will be filled with guilt, fear or anger because you feel bad for agreeing to do something you never want to. So you need to be brave enough to say “No” when you’re asked at first.
Janine Garner, CEO of The LBD Group, believed we need to get very clear about our goals. Unless we work towards our goals, nobody else will care about our time. Garner said, “We may end up saying ‘Yes’ because we feel sorry for somebody who needs us. But we end up having that awful feeling in our heart. You can only achieve the best of you by stopping doing the things that take up your time and don’t add anything towards your goals. Take a good look at the time spent on others, which you really should spend on yourself.”

In mid-January, Gao and her family went to Wuhan, where her parents-in-law live, to spend the Spring Festival holiday. Soon after their arrival, COVID-19 broke out. On January 23, Wuhan was locked down. Gao talked to me about what life was like in one of the “epicenters (震中)” of this pandemic (流行病). What impressed (使留下深刻印象) me most was her experience of working as a volunteer.
Hearing that Gao had decided to volunteer, her parents-in-law felt worried at first. COVID-19 was a terrible disease. What if she got infected? Gao fully understood them. However, the city and its citizens needed help. Finally, Gao succeeded in persuading (说服) her parents-in-law.
Gao’s task as a volunteer was to sort and give out food that was sent into her neighborhood. It wasn’t an easy job. Each shift (轮班) lasted for two to three hours. The volunteers were selfless. Gao said she decided to volunteer simply because she loved the city and that she believed she could help. When people said “Thanks!” to her, she couldn’t help but feel proud.

But some people got too close to those animals and got sick. Like a common cold, people might get a fever and might cough very badly. When a sick person is infected (感染) with virus, he or she can easily infect other people. The patients could die if they don’t get any medical treatment.
Many brave doctors and nurses devote themselves to helping sick people. Although they are in great danger, they keep on working and taking good care of the patients.
Zhong Nanshan,84, a doctor from Guangdong, is one of them. He led his team to Wuhan to fight the virus. Hong’s team took many measures (措施) to help the patients.
