Welcome to our school! Let me tell you something special in our school. Every week in     1       (年级) Seven, we have a cooking lesson. It usually     2     (发生) in the fourth lesson in the morning or afternoon. The cooking room is on the third floor of the     3     (建筑物) next to the sports hall. We learn how to cook different food here.

At the moment, Miss Yang, our cooking teacher,     4     (教) us how to make a hamburger. We usually do as Miss Yang     5     (做). First, cut the bread into two     6     (半). Next, put hams and vegetable leaves     7     (在……之间) them and add some salad to make it     8     (美味). Then, cook it for about three     9     (分钟). Finally, we can enjoy it. The take-away food is popular these days and many people like it, but it’s not as     1     (health) as cooking. I like cooking at home, but my dishes are different     2     common Chinese food. They use certain ingredients（原料）, and they are hard to find in Chinese supermarkets. I sometimes have to go online     3     (buy) them. But I still go to Chinese supermarkets to get fresh ingredients, such as chicken and vegetables. I find cooking is very interesting and enjoyable. Sarah is from Belgium. She was     1     (interest) in food from an early age. By twelve, she was already cooking family meals to help her father after     2     long day of work. After university, Sarah left Belgium. Living in other countries helped her learn about different     3     (culture) and foods. However, Sarah had a weak stomach and had to eat clean and simple meals with less salt and butter. So she sometimes couldn’t enjoy the foreign food well.     4     (luck), she soon learned that meals could be both delicious and simple.

Sarah’s food is simple but special. She only uses fresh fruit, vegetables, nuts and sometimes a little chocolate. She     8     (create) her son’s favorite animals and some Disney characters out of them. She wants to make her children smile, and encourage them     9     (eat) well.

There is some beautiful food art     10     is amazing to look at, but it’s hard to see how someone would want to eat it. Sarah’s message is all about getting kids to have fun with fresh food.

【推荐2】Look around the walls of your classroom. Do you     1     (注意到) pictures or paintings? Maybe most of them are created by your classmates and     2     (你自己) , using your own heads and hands.

Each year, an organization called the Inner City Angels in Toronto     3     (提供) workshops for thousands of school children to make the best use of their heads. These children work directly with artists on a certain art       4     (工程). Natalie McHaffic, a professional artist, works with the Inner City Angels. “My purpose is to teach children the     5     (知识) about design,” she says. “Once they learned how to put things together, they can use what they learn in the     6     (大脑) for other things, such as making a kite or designing a house.”

【推荐3】I grew up with my grandparents in the countryside. They always encouraged me to do more chores by myself. I didn’t understand what it brought to me until I became an adult. It     1     already helped me learn many useful skills.

I learned to cook at the age of 10. Later, I fell     2     love with cooking. It’s a good way to relax. More importantly, thanks to my cooking skills, I live better in the pandemic（疫情）.
