The first question is about real English. Some students say that they want to learn real English. But they don’t know what to do. Watching English films is a good way. When we are tired after studying for a long time, we can watch an English film to relax. While watching it, we can also learn real English at the same time.
The second question is about speaking, Most speaking. Most students feel too shy to talk with foreigners. “Where are you from?” What do you think of China?” There are both good questions to start a conversation. Before we begin, take a deep breath and smile! Smiling always helps.
The third question is about vocabulary. We want to remember all the new words. The problem is that we write them down but forget them soon. Write eight or ten words on a piece of paper and put it in our bedroom. Try to remember them. Spell the words whenever we see them, and change them every day. There is another way, when you’re shopping, counting the English words or saying the English names for everything you see as much as possible.

On the last day of O-Bon, they put paper lanterns in a river to send off the spirits.
In Russia, people remember their ancestors on the Day of Rejoicing (欣喜). It’s usually in late April or early May. The name of this festival means birth and happiness. Russians believe that people shouldn’t feel sad for the dead because death means birth in another world. Many students have kept practising English hand-writing for nearly three years. Now a lot of students’ English hand-writings are getting better and better. That makes our teachers feel happy. Is your English hand-writing beautiful? If not, here are four steps that really work!
◆Use paper that has lines
When you write English words or sentences, you can use paper with lines. That will make your handwriting straight. Those lines on the paper can help you to write words in the right size. Be sure to fill the lined space completely. And make sure those capital letters(大写字母) are written properly.
◆Slow down
If your writing is hard to read, try slowing down a little. For some kids, going slower makes the handwriting clear. If you write too fast, it’s hard for you to stop where you should, and even worse, you may make more mistakes.
◆ Hold your pen right
When you hold your pen the correct way, writing is much easier. Some kids press(按,压) down really hard when they write. That makes the handwriting not nice. Try to relax yourself and don’t hold the pen so hard. Let your writing appear nice and clean. If you do so, people will guess you are a student with a good habit.
◆Draw more pictures
Drawing can improve your handwriting. You need to use the skills to control your pencil better when you are drawing pictures. Even though you have no chance to draw at school, you can practice by yourself at home.
Handwriting is very important. The English saying says “The style(字体) is the man.” Imagine you are a world-famous movie star or a well-known sports player, what do you do when your fans run up to you? Give them your autographs (亲笔签名), of course!
1. Not all the students’ English hand-writings are getting better and better.2. If you want to make English hand-writing beautiful, you’d better use paper with lines.
3. The more slowly you write, the more mistakes you will make.
4. Holding your pen too hard while writing can make your handwriting nice and clean.
5. The English saying means handwriting can determine (测定) a man and his personality.
【推荐3】Astronomy(天文学)is the oldest science known to men. Thousands of years ago, men looked at the stars and wondered about the heavens(苍穹).
The Greeks studied astronomy over 2, 000 years ago. They could see the size, color and brightness of a star. They could see its place in the sky. They watched the stars move as the seasons changed. But the Greeks had no tools to help them study the heavens. Each new tool added to the field of astronomy helped men reach out into space. Until there were telescopes, men did not know much about the moon. They did not know that the planet called Saturn(土星)had rings around it. Their sight was so limited that they could not see all the planets. In the early 1700s people thought there were only six planets. Pluto(冥王星), the last of the nine plane nets to be discovered was not seen until 1930.
Before the spectroscopes(分光镜), men didn’t know what kind of gas was in the sun or other stars. Without radio telescopes(射电望远镜), we did not know that radio noise came far from space.
Today, astronomy is a growing science. We have learned more in the past fifty years than in the whole history of astronomy.
