A new study by the researchers from the University of Florida showed that pet dogs could serve as social support for children, making them feel less stressed.

“Many people think pet dogs are great for kids     1     scientists aren’t sure if that’s true or how it happens,” said Darlene Kertes, from the University of Florida in the US. “    2     we learn to deal with stress as children has a lifelong influence on how we deal with stress as adults,” she said.

For the     3    , the researchers invited 100 pet-owning families with a child between 7 and 12 years old. They came to the university laboratory with their     4    .
