How to eat healthily

Eating a healthier diet doesn’t have to be complicated. Instead of being overly concerned with counting calories, think of your diet in terms of color, variety, and freshness. Here are some tips for you to eat healthily.

Prepare more of your own meals. Cooking more meals at home can help you take charge of what you’re eating. It can better monitor exactly what goes into your food. You’ll eat fewer calories and avoid the chemical additives, added sugar, and unhealthy fats of packaged and takeout foods.     1

Make the right changes. When reducing unhealthy foods in your diet, it’s important to replace them with healthy alternatives. Replacing dangerous trans fats with healthy fats.     2     This will make a positive difference to your health.

Read the labels.     3     Manufacturers often hide large amounts of sugar or unhealthy fats in packaged food, even food claiming to be healthy.

Focus on how you feel after eating.     4     The healthier the food you eat, the better you’ll feel after a meal. The more junk food you eat, the more likely you are to feel uncomfortable, nauseous, or drained of energy.

Control emotional eating.     5     Many of us also turn to food to relieve stress or cope with unpleasant emotions such as sadness, loneliness, or boredom. But by learning healthier ways to manage stress and emotions, you can regain control over the food you eat and your feelings.

A.For instance, you can eat bacon instead of donuts.
B.We don’t always eat just to satisfy hunger.
C.They may make you feel tired, bloated, and irritable, and exacerbate symptoms of anxiety.
D.When you’re ready to reward yourself with a special treat, go out and get it.
E.It’s important to be aware of what’s in your food.
F.This will enable you to have healthy new habits and tastes.
G.For example, you can switch fried chicken for grilled salmon.

文章大意:本文是一篇说明文,主要介绍了我们对糖上瘾原因,吃糖多的危害等。

【推荐1】Many scientists believe our love of sugar may actually be an addiction (上瘾). When we eat or drink sugary food, the sugar enters our blood and influences parts of our brain that make us feel good. Then the good feeling goes away, leaving us wanting more. All tasty foods do this, but sugar has a stronger effect (影响).

“It seems like every time I study an illness, I find my way back to sugar,” says Richard Johnson, a famous scientist. One-third of adults in his country have high blood pressure, and up to 347 million have diabetes (糖尿病). Why? “Sugar, we believe, is one of the main reasons,” says Johnson.

Our bodies are designed to live on very little sugar. Early humans often had little food, so the bodies learned to keep sugar as fat. In this way, we had energy when there was no food. But today, most people have more than enough. So the very important thing that once saved us may now be killing us.

It’s clear that we need to eat less sugar. The trouble is, in today’s world, it’s very difficult to avoid sugar because our foods are increasingly filled with it. In most advertisements, some manufactures even use sugar to take the place of the fat in foods. As a result, the fat in the foods is less. This may make the food appear healthier, but much sugar is often added.

But there are those who are fighting back against sugar. Many schools are offering more fruit instead of desserts. Other schools are building places for students to do exercise. The battle (战斗) has not yet been lost.
