In 2003, when Shenzhou V set off successfully, Yang Liwei’s words “I am proud of our motherland” brought tears to our eyes. Carrying the flying dream of the Chinese nation for thousands of years, as the first space visitor of China, he started the Space Age for the Chinese.
In 2008, Zhai Zhigang in Shenzhou VII had the first Chinese spacewalk, “I am out of the capsule(太空舱), and I feel good,” he told the world proudly.

Six astronauts have been sent to space with two women included. On May 30, 2023, Jing Haipeng, Zhu Yangzhu and Gui Haichao in Shenzhou XVI were sent into space successfully.

Living on the ISS
Hello everyone, my name is Jessica Meir. I am an astronaut. I work on the International Space Station(国际空间站，缩写为ISS) as a flight engineer. Today, I will tell you something about what life is like on the ISS.
The ISS has over 425 cubic meters(立方米) of living space. I work here with astronauts from the United States, Russia, Japan, Canada and several other European countries. When we are on the ISS, we have to follow a detailed daily schedule. It tells us when to get up, eat, exercise, work, relax and go to sleep. We spend about two hours each day exercising. Without regular exercise, we would lose a certain amount of muscle and bone due to the microgravity (微重力) environment in space.

The Shenzhou XIII mission was sent on October 16th, 2021. The astronauts are Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu. They planned to spend six months working in the space station. Early last month, 41, was China’s first woman spacewalker in the space.
