【推荐3】When I was a little boy, my mother told me that the ice cream truck(卡车)was actually a music truck. It wasn’t until I started school that I learned what it really was. All the kids in my neighborhood knew that on summer evenings, the ice cream truck would visit here.

When I was very little, the ice cream truck used to come by my house. My mother told me it was the “music truck”, and it came by to play music to all the little kids. Naturally, I was heart-broken when my best friend told me that it was actually the ice cream truck. So I packed my few clothes and ran away from home. I sat outside the stores for ten minutes, and then decided to forgive my mother and came back.

My mother was a nutritionist(营养师). She wanted me to believe that the ice cream truck was a music truck. So I wouldn’t eat any ice cream. It would start “cries” —the ice cream truck is coming! If the man didn’t see any kids on the street, he wouldn’t stop. So the kids would run fast to their moms for some dollars and coins, hoping to catch the ice cream man. Younger brothers and sisters would usually run to make the truck wait while they got their money. When I asked my mother why kids would run up to the truck, she said, “they really like the music.”

The man wasn’t very friendly. He’d take our money through the window and hand us our ice cream without saying anything. Of course, he didn’t have to be friendly—he had what we wanted—ice cream.

For most US kids, ice cream is the first thing we spend our money on. It is also the first thing that makes us understand the value of a dollar, and our first true love.

B.the mother treated the boy badly
C.they were too poor to buy the ice cream
D.the mother didn’t want him to have any ice cream
4. Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?
A.Music is the boy’s first true love.
B.The Ice Cream Man was kind enough to kids.
C.The kids would cry until they got money.
D.Ice cream is the first thing for most US kids to buy with money.
