Most people don’t take first aid training because they are busy. Some even think only doctors need to     1     first aid. But in fact, everyone should learn first aid because it is     2    . Here are the advantages of learning first aid.

“Rescue (救援) has no borders. Chinese rescue teams will keep going to     1     people,” said Chen Jiahuan, a 28-year-old member of China’s Blue Sky Rescue Team. On February 6th, 2023, a big earthquake happened in Turkey, and it caused tens of     2     of casualties (伤亡).

Chen arrived in Turkey together with many other     3     of the Blue Sky Rescue Team. “When we landed at the Istanbul airport, a local person said, ’China     4     a great country. Thanks for     5     support and kind actions. You must keep safe while working in the fallen buildings,’” Chen recalled.

According to Chen, nearly 300 people from the Blue Sky Rescue Team joined the rescue efforts. “From Thursday to Saturday, we     6     searched 25 buildings and 133 workplaces. Much to our joy, we saved 28 people. However, only two of them were     7     to survive (存活),” said Chen.

The members of the Blue Sky Rescue Team were     8     by what the local people did. “They lit a fire for our rescue team by the roadside. And they shared their bread with us, though they didn’t have enough food to eat.” said Chen.

“As the old saying goes, ‘Many hands make light     9    .’ One person’s power is weak, but the power of a group is strong,” Chen added.

In late February, the Blue Sky Rescue Team returned to China. During the stay in Turkey, they saved 8 survivors and     10     137 victims (遇难者) in total. How great they were!

I’m Nancy and I’m Chinese. I am     1     middle school student in Canada. But because of the COVID-19 (新冠肺炎), I study in my country now and have online (线上的) classes. The teachers in Canada give us lessons.     2     classes are very interesting and I learn a lot. There     3     (be) five lessons every day.     4     my favorite lesson is English. My English teacher often shows us cat memes (表情包) and plays ukulele (尤克里里) in her class.

The new corona virus (冠状病毒) first appeared in Wuhan, China in December. And it has     1     to spread to many other countries.

The Chinese government closed off fifty     2     people in Wuhan and cities near it. The government took     3     to limit the spread of the disease. Now most people around the country are staying at home.     4     people go out, they wear masks.

Hundreds of companies have closed their factories until the disease is more under control. Since China makes so many parts for products     5     by companies around the world, the effects of the factories shutting down     6     felt in other countries, too.

Car companies like Honda, Toyota, and others have closed their factories, some until the end of February. Many tech factories, such as those of iPhone maker Foxconn, are also closed.

However, many countries worldwide offer support to China’s fight     7     corona virus.

“Do not be afraid. The light from all over the world is on you. Do not be afraid. You are never alone in the night. Do not cry. It’s not just me, everyone is together to give you strength (力量).”

These are the lyrics of a song created by a group of     8     in Malaysia to support China in its battle against the novel corona virus outbreak.

“We’ve got to do something,     9     people outside of China. We want the people in China to be     10     from fear or worry.” said the song’s producer.

It is just one of many goodwill gestures (示意) and offers of support from countries across the world to help China.
