The first question you need to ask is “Why am I having a party?” (It’s my birthday; the exams are over; our football team won a match; I just want a party.)

Most people and many animals like eating it. However, the only way for them to get that honey is to find a wild bees’ nest(蜂巢)and take honey from it. Often, these nests are high up in trees, and it is difficult to find them. But in parts of Africa, people and animals have a strange helper— a little bird called a honey helper.
In fact, the honey helper does not like honey, but it likes the wax(蜂蜡)in the nest. The little bird cannot reach the wax because it is inside the bees’ nest. So, when it finds a nest, it looks for someone to help. The little bird sings loudly to get the attention(注意) of both passing animals and people. When it has their attention, it flies through the forest, waiting for the following animal or person that loves honey. Then it helps them find the nest. When they finally arrive at the nest, the follower tries to get the delicious honey and the bird waits and watches. Some of the honey and the wax always fall to the ground, and this is when the bird takes its share.
Scientists do not know why the bird likes eating the wax, but they seem to be able to smell the wax far away.

Firs(冷杉)
Firs are evergreen(常青) tees. They always have green leaves. Their leaves look like needles(针). Firs are large trees. They can be 10 to 80 meters tall. Their trunks(树干) can be 0.5 to 4 meters wide. In many countries in Europe, people use firs as Christmas trees.
Cushion plants(垫状植物)
They look like a small cushion(垫子). They grow together and they are less than 30 cm tall. But they can be 3 meters wide. People also call the plants “ecosystem engineers”. That’s because many other plants live under them. Cushion plants keep the cold away. They make the soil inside soft and wet. In this way, cushion plants help other plants survive(生存).
Snow lotuses(雪莲花)
The snow lotus lives at elevations ranging from 2,400 to 4,000 meters. The climate there is cold. It always snows and the air is thin. Most plants will die. But the snow lotus grows well. A snow lotus can be 15 to 35 cm tall. People use it in medicine.
Saxifrages(虎耳草)
The evergreen saxifrage has star-shaped flowers. Most saxifrages are very small-less than 12 cm tall. They grow very slowly in cold environments. Saxifrages can live both in the mountains and in your garden, yet they are not resistant(耐受的) to high temperatures.
