The day was quite hot, so we got up quite early. First, we stopped at Ms. Fisher’s house. Her son was leaving for college, so there were lots of things he no longer needed. He had several sets of music CDs and lots of good books. Guess what? I found one of my favorite books. What was more, all I had to pay was a dollar. What a deal! Then, we moved on to other houses. The street was full of people and everyone was happy.

Think about it. It’s really good for the environment and for people too. Next time you feel like an adventure (探险), check out a yard sale. It’s fun, and it’s a great way to use things again.

【推荐2】The 2024 Summer Olympics are coming. While waiting for the event to begin, we can learn something about it.

The organizers have promised to bring less harm to the environment by minimizing the number of newly-created buildings. In Paris, 95 percent of places used for the games are already there or will be put in place for a short period.

In one of the latest developments, the organizers said that a total of 11,000 seats in two gyms, Arena Porte de la Chapelle in Paris and the Aquatics Center in Saint-Denis, will use recycled plastic chairs.

The decision was made after local manufacturers (制造商) found there weren’t enough plastic materials, which forced them to turn to recycled waste.

That was why the organizers began working with Lemon Tri and Le Pav. The two companies (公司) got the idea of getting plastic waste from recycling bins around the city. Over 100 tons of plastic is needed to make the seats and 80 percent of it is collected from local schools and street-side bins in Seine-Saint-Denis. It’s also where the plastic waste is processed into new materials.

“When we ask children to put their bottles in the bins and tell them they will become the seats of the Olympic swimming pool, it helps them learn about the importance of recycling waste,” said Augustin Jaclin from Lemon Tri.

Of course, collecting plastic is one thing and turning it into Olympic chairs is another. After all, making them isn’t as easy as making normal chairs.

You have just finished eating an apple while on a camp. There aren’t any rubbish bins around; what do you do with the apple core (核)? If you answered “throw it in the grass” because you thought fruit would not have a bad influence on nature, you are wrong.

According to the scientists, decomposition (分解) of fruit litter takes much longer time than you imagine. Some of these “natural” food can take years to decompose depending on the environment they are in!

When animals start to get their food from people, they may stop looking for their own food in nature. This is very dangerous because animals need different foods to stay healthy. Food waste also draws animals to go to areas where there are a lot of people. And when food is thrown out of a car window, animals may develop the habit of searching roadsides for food, which increases the chances of their being hit by a car.

In fact, apples, bananas and oranges are not from wild forests. If they are eaten by wild animals, they will probably cause the animals to get sick. Seeds (种子) of these fruit or vegetables that end up on the ground could grow into an exotic plant there. It doesn’t belong to the local kind. And then, of course, nobody wants to see someone else’s fruit litter, which has already gone bad, while enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

So, no litter is safe litter, not even an apple core.

The book gives many tips to help you if you get angry easily. Here are the top three:

★Keep a record. Every time you get angry, write down why you are angry. Look at it later and you will see you get angry too easily.

★Ask your friends to stop talking to you when you get angry. This will teach you not to be angry.

★Do something different. When you get angry, walk away from the problem and go somewhere else. Try to laugh!

Traveling will be much cheaper and easier, and many more people will go to other countries for holidays.

There will be changes in our food, too. More land will be used for building new towns and houses for people. Then there will be less room for cows and sheep, so meat will be more expensive. Maybe no one will eat it every day. Instead, they will eat more fruit and vegetables. Maybe people will be healthier. Work in the future will be different, too. Robots will do dangerous and hard work. Because of this, many people will not have enough work to do. That will be a problem.
