The village basketball tournament (联赛) in Taipan village, Taijiang county, in Guizhou Province, has become popular since last year. People call it Cun-BA. The players include farmers, small business owners, drivers and workers in factories. Many visitors across China come here to find out why the competitions are so popular.
The villagers cheer for the players by knocking on iron pots and bowls. Players here fight for the honor of their villages, even though the prize for winners could be local farm products given away by the villagers.
Taipan village interested about 500,000 visitors during last summer’s matches, and got more than 40 million yuan on tourism industry. It’s more like a cultural festival than a sports match. The villagers dress in their traditional clothes, showing ethnic (少数民族的) cultures in the competition, such as Miao-style dances. It’s said that Taipan has become a model place of sports industry. In the future, Cun-BA has the potential to grow into a national competition, improving the connection of townships and small cities. Many people are quite sure about it and they look forward to it.
“This is the meaning of basketball itself, which not only allows people to enjoy the sports, but also introduces local customs and traditions to the world. It also makes a difference to local products as well as local tourism,” said one reporter from CCTV.

The practice starts at 10 a.m. We all arrive as early as we can so that we have time to warm up. We are training harder than usual because the other team beat us last year. This year we want to do better.
It is more difficult to practice in winter because the days are short and the weather is cold too. It gets dark earlier, so it is important not to be late for after-school practice. Our coach is pleased because we are playing better as a team now. Last year we were sometimes careless when we passed the ball, so we lost to the other team in the final match. What a pity! This year we are training more carefully. That means we have a better chance of winning.
The fan club has fewer people this year. We hope to play well and have more fans to watch the matches. It is good to have our fans around. They cheer us on loudly and we feel more confident to win the game.

If Jack had just scored that goal,
If we’d had just a few more minutes,
If we had trained harder,
If Ben had passed the ball to Joe,
If we’d had thousands of fans screaming,
If I hadn’t taken my eye off the ball,
If we hadn’t stayed up so late the night before,
If we hadn’t taken it easy,
If we hadn’t run out of energy,
We would have won...
If we’ve been better!

With the development of the times, Xiaomi decided to do something big and different. They created their very first electric car, called the SU7, and started selling it to people. The boss of Xiaomi, a man named Lei Jun, told everyone that the starting price of this new car would be 215,900 yuan (almost $30,000). It was a big event, and people were very excited. In just 27 minutes, more than 50,000 people ordered the new car.
