简短回答下列1-3小题,4小题把汉语翻译成英语,5小题把英语翻译成汉语。

People in the countryside are used to having unexpected visitors—wild animals like frogs and snakes. But what if the visitor is an elephant?

Pu Cuifen, a villager from Yunnan Province, experienced that two years ago. “I’ve only seen elephants in a zoo before, not expecting a wild elephant would appear at my doorstep,” said Pu. The elephants were harmful to no one, but had corn and beans on the farm. The villagers lost up to 50,000 yuan. Earlier than that, villagers would drive away the elephants to protect their crops (庄稼), which made the animals angry and led to human injuries (伤害) or deaths.

Now the government has helped to pay the money for the crops damaged (破坏) by elephants. Such things will help protect the interests of farmers, and at the same time avoid the wild animals being hurt by humans. The government has also created “dining halls” for the wild elephants to grow their favorite food, such as elephant grass and bamboo. Villagers now simply leave the elephants alone. “Our corn might get damaged, but we treat them with care and accept them with love.” said Pu.

Yunnan Province is not the only example of protecting wild animals. In Tibet, Migmar used to be a hunter (猎人), but now has become a rescuer (营教者) at the wildlife rescue station of Qomolangma. He and his friends take turns to go around to check there’s no trouble or danger for wild animals every day. The wildlife rescue station was set up in 2019. From then on, they have saved 17 wild animals. During this period, they learned to bandage the animals and clean their wounds, and set them free into the wild when they got well again. “尽管动物不会说话,但是我能够感知到他们的信任,因此我们有责任保护他们。”said Migmar.

Examples of taking care of wild animals appear more around us. From damage to protection, people see more changing human-wildlife relations. Even the simplest change and action can make a difference to the world.

文章大意:本文主要讲述了Clara的妈妈在除草时,弄伤了一只乌龟,在Clara的精心照料下,乌龟好了,且又把它放归大自然的故事。
【推荐1】阅读短文回答问题。

It was a hot summer day. Clara was drinking juice in the yard. Her mom was cutting grass with a lawnmower(割草机). The lawnmower was loud, and Clara wished her mom would play with her instead. But Mom said the grass was tall and had to be cut.

Suddenly, the lawnmower stopped. Clara’s mom looked sad. Clara wondered what was wrong. Her mom picked something up out of the grass, and walked to Clara.

Clara’s mom had a little turtle in her hand! As Clara looked closer, she saw that one of his legs was in bad shape. “I think I broke his leg.” Clara’s mom said. “I’m really sorry. Will you help me nurse(照料) him back to health? “

Clara felt bad for the little turtle. A turtle moved slowly, so he probably could not run away when he saw the lawnmower coming. And Clara’s mom could not see him in the tall grass! It was a mistake, but Clara and her mom would do something to make it right. Clara named the turtle Phillip.

They took Phillip to the vet(兽医). The vet took an X-ray of Phillip’s leg, and made sure that it was broken. The turtle got a little splint(夹板)and bandage. The vet told Clara that the turtle needed plants to eat, water to drink and a place to live in. Clara and her mom bought a small tank(水箱)for Phillip on the way home.

At home, Clara took good care of Phillip. She put water and rocks in the tank. She brought him fruit and leaves to eat, and kept his tank clean.

After eight weeks, Clara and her mom took Philip to the vet, who said that his leg was healthy again. Clara was both happy and sad. She was happy because Phillip was better, and she was sad because she had to let him go. After Clara got home, she fed Phillip some fruit, kissed his back and said goodbye, then put him in the grass and let him go. Clara would always remember Phillip.

【推荐3】阅读下面短文,简略回答所提出的问题。

“Last night, there were 20 elephants on my farm,” Eric from Kenya said. “They ate all my crops (庄稼). What can I do?”

Elephants are lovely animals, but they brought serious problems to the farmers near Mount Kenya National Park. The elephants often left the park, went into the nearby farms, and ate their crops. So farmers slept in their fields (田地). If elephants came, they scared them away. However, the next day, the farmers were too tired to do their work.

Then someone thought of a better way. They built electric fences (电栅栏) to keep the elephants out. The farmers had more time for their work. However, these fences were expensive to build.

“The elephant problem started when more people came to Mount Kenya and started new farms,” a man from the government (政府) said. “The elephants had lived here for a very long time before people came. At some times of the year, elephants go from one place to another. They remember their old routes (路线), and they walk through anything that’s there—like a farm or even a house.”

Now the government has a plan. It wants the people around the park to start tourism (旅游业). People around the world love elephants. When more and more elephant-lovers come to visit Mount Kenya National Park, those farmers can make money by serving them. The government hopes that this way, people and elephants will live together happily.
