Are you looking for something fun? Would you like to help others in your spare time? Then join us to be a volunteer! We’re a non-profit (非营利的) organization (组织). We have volunteer jobs of all ages. Anyone, from twelve-year-old children to people in their seventies, can become a volunteer.
You can help people in many ways. Schools need help in taking care of children while their parents are working. Hospitals need volunteers to look after children while their parents are seeing a doctor. Animal lovers can help take care of those dogs and cats without homes. There is something for everyone.
“As a volunteer, I don’t want to get anything. Seeing the children’s happy faces, and I’m happy, too.” said Carlos Domingo, an old woman of 62. “I often played computer games in my spare time before. Now I help older people learn how to use computers,” said another volunteer at the age of 18.
If everyone helps out a bit, we’ll have a better world to live in. Interested? Call us at 555 - 5756 or visit our website: www.activol.com.

I went to see this film with my 8-year-old daughter this Tuesday, really without knowing too much about it. My daughter and I were pleasantly surprised at how funny it was. We just couldn’t help laughing. I would recommend this film to the whole family.

Head to a natural history museum. This is where kids can discover the past from dinosaur(恐龙) models to rock collections and pictures of stars in the sky. Also, ask what kind of workshops and educational programs are prepared for kids and any special events that are coming up.

The old man always wears an old watch. It is not an expensive watch by any means, but it serves its purpose. One day I noticed he wasn’t wearing it any more. I asked him why and he looked down and told me that the battery(电池)had died so he threw it away. I knew he couldn’t buy a new battery and he had no enough money to buy a new watch.
He stayed on my mind all day, and I knew what I had to do. I went out to a shop and bought him a watch. It was not an expensive one, but one that was very similar to the one he had.
When I saw him the next day, he was smiling and cheerful as ever. When I bent down to put some change in his cup, I also dropped the watch in. I didn’t say anything about it. I just smiled at him and kept on walking. He didn’t even notice it until I left. I looked back and watched as he pulled the watch from the cup. He looked to me and I just smiled and nodded. He put the watch on with a big smile on his face and I walked happily on my way.

The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand. I walked toward him and asked him who he wished to give this doll to.
“It’s the doll that my sister loved most.”
His eyes were so sad while saying this. “My sister has gone to another world. Daddy says that Mommy is going to be with her very soon too, so I thought that she could take the doll with her to give it to my sister.” Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.
My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said, “I told Daddy to tell Mommy not to go yet. I need her to wait until I come back from the store.”
I quickly reached for my wallet and said to the boy, “Suppose we check again. Maybe you do have enough money for the doll.” “OK!” he said, “I hope I do have enough.” I added some of my money to his and we started to count it. There was enough for the doll and even some spare money left. The little boy said, “It’s lucky that I finally got enough money!”
A few minutes later, I left the store, teary-eyed, feeling that my life had been changed forever.
