There is an unstaffed (未配备员工的), 24-hour smart bookstore in Guiyang. It belongs to the Xinhua Bookstore. And in addition to selling books, it also serves as a library of sorts.
The bookstore has nearly 10,000 books on a lot of topics that fit all ages. There’s a children’s activity area near the entrance, which is separated from the reading area. Since the store opened, it has received hundreds of customers a day. Most are nearby people who are attracted by its convenience and quiet environment.
Chen Wentao, a 28-year-old young adult, said that he has developed a new reading habit as a result of visiting the store. “Here, I have no concerns. I am free to pick up a book and lose myself in it. Reading brings me a sense of peace in this fast-paced life,” he said.
A number of retirees (退休者) have also been enjoying the store. “I usually come to the bookstore to relax after I finish exercising in the afternoon. It only takes me a few minutes to walk here. It is really good for the elderly. We can learn new things, get exposed to the new technologies and keep up with the rapidly changing world,” Luo Yinfeng said.
Wei Jingran, Xinhua Bookstore’s operating director in Guizhou, says that the aim of social benefits is behind the store’s creation. He sees the store as a means of providing a convenient service for people. “Next, we will focus on opening unstaffed bookstores by making them into new local landmarks and popularizing them on the Internet,” Wei said.

This was because of the powerful poetic message written on each box: “山川异域,风月同天。”.It literally translates to “ Mountains and rivers on foreign land wind and moon under the same sky.” or officially ,“Lands apart, sky shared ”Besides the heartfelt regard and the elegant (优美的) language, the quote also alluded (暗指) a significant moment in the history of cultural exchange between the two countries.
The line comes from a seventh century Buddhist hymn (佛教圣歌) by prince Nagaya, a politician from the Nara period(710-794)of Japan, titled “Embroidered on Kasaya Robes for good Karma”: Lands apart, sky shared. For the disciples of Buddha, to nurture good karma.
The hymn was embroidered(绣) on 1,000 Buddhist robes(袍子)which Prince Nagaya had made and sent to the Tang court in China. It's a part of his invitation for Chinese Buddhist monks to visit Japan. The poem was also included in the Complete Tang Poems. The largest existing collection of Tang poetry.
Inspired by the Prince’s hymn, Jianzhen, decided to go on a voyage to Japan. After six attempts and the loss of his eyesight, Jianzhen finally arrived, and made a significant contribution to the spread of Buddhism in Japan.
The reference does not only invoke(引用) shared history, but also common appreciation for ancient poetry in the Chinese language. Many in china were touched by the poetic expression of support from Japanese citizens during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Word Whomp
In this game, you’re given six letters and you need to think about how many words can be spelled with those letters. You have two and a half minutes to think of every word. With some practice, it can be a fun way to improve your English vocabulary. You’ll get some good practice by quickly thinking of English words-a skill that will be useful in real-life English conversations.
Bananagram
This game can be played with many people. Every player takes a number of letter tiles. Then they start using these letters to build words. Once you use all of your letters, shout “Peel”. And at that moment, every other player must take another tile from the pile (堆). The last one to run out of his tiles will lose the game. This game can help you practice reading and spelling.
Fishbowl
You need a large group to play this game. To start with, everyone writes down three simple words. Next, they throw all the words into a bowl. Every player takes turns to pull one word out of the bowl and describe the word to his teammates. The player can use gestures (手势) without sounds or say only one word to help his teammates to guess the word. In the end, the team that guesses the most correct words wins.

First, a park is meant to be for the whole community. Not everyone likes golf, so not everyone will get to use the park. This isn’t fair. A community park should have open spaces for everyone to use.
Second, to make way for the golf course, lots of playground equipment(设备)will have to be moved or knocked down, which is a waste of time and money. It’s also a waste of perfectly good equipment. The swings, for example, will probably just end up as litter.
Third, what about giving young people something to do? Not all kids are crazy about golf. At the moment, the park has a skating place and a playground. These attract lots of kids from the community. If you turn the park into a golf course, these kids won’t have anywhere to go and they won’t have anything to do. This means that they will stay at home and turn on a video game rather than get some exercise. It also means that they might be out on the street causing trouble. Wouldn’t it be better to give them something to do at the park?
Finally, golf is expensive. Building a golf course and maintaining it costs a lot of money. Who is going to pay to maintain the golf course? What about those people who can’t afford to join a golf club? That means that the golf course will only be available(可用的)to people with lots of money.
Turning our park into a golf course is a bad idea. I suggest we have a community meeting before plans go any further.
