A study showed that three quarters of British people couldn’t get a good night’s sleep.     1     Here are four pieces of advice.

Go to bed and wake up at the same time

This helps set your body’s clock and improve your sleep. Choose a bedtime when you normally feel tired.     2     If you need an alarm clock, you may need an earlier bedtime.

Keep the right temperature

As you become sleepy, your temperature will go down, reach its lowest level around 5:00 a.m. and climb slightly as the morning begins.     3     So keep your room cool and find what temperature makes you most comfortable.

Exercise

4     In fact, research shows that even exercise before bedtime doesn’t cause sleeping problems for many people and in some cases, it might even be helpful.

Turn your clock the other way

Checking the time at night can be bad as it can lead you to work out how many hours you have slept so far.     5     This kind of brain activity could make you awake at times. So turn your phone and clock away and have a good sleep.

A.This is why the temperature in your room can affect your sleep.
B.Don’t listen to music before you go to sleep.
C.Gradually, you can wake up naturally without an alarm.
D.You can take some pills if you couldn’t fall asleep.
E.How can you get a good sleep?
F.Then you start over-thinking about tomorrow.
G.Lots of people think doing exercise is bad before sleeping.

【推荐2】Puberty is the stage of life when young people leave childhood and head into adulthood. It is a difficult process for teenagers because it has an effect on both their minds and bodies. They need to understand what is going on with their bodies, how to deal with those changes and how to start taking responsibility for themselves.

A young person may begin puberty at 8, while another may not start puberty until 14 or 15. In general, girls start puberty two years before boys do. For both girls and boys, it is usually complete by the age of 18.

During these years, the body develops in many ways. Feelings can also change quickly.

Teenage boys at this stage often begin to take unnecessary risks. Their focus is on having fun and being accepted by others. They need to think before they act and make good decisions for themselves.

A girl's personality often does not develop in the same way as a boy's. Teenage girls sometimes lose confidence in themselves. They are no longer certain about their own feelings. Yet they are usually afraid to tell their parents or teachers about their problems. For this reason, teenage girls should be encouraged to discuss things with trusted adults.

Parents, schools and communities can do a lot to care for and help young people. It is everyone's responsibility to make sure that young people grow into healthy adults.

文章大意:本文主要讲述了最近的一项研究发现,人和狗之间的联系可能对狗很重要。

【推荐3】If you have a dog, you probably feel a strong bond (纽带) with it. A recent study found that this bond may not only be important to kids, but also be important to dogs.

Researchers at Oregon State University studied the relationship between kids and dogs. To do the study, they recruited (招募) 30 young people aged 8 to 17, who have dogs to do an experiment. The kids were asked to bring their dogs to an empty room. In the room, a kid was asked to walk around the huge space, sometimes stopping or changing the direction. “And the dog was left to do whatever the dog wanted to do.” says Monique Udell, one of the study’s authors.

But most of the time, the dog didn’t do any of those things. Instead, it stayed close to its owner and moved similarly to its owner. The dogs did this far more often than you would expect them to do it by chance.

What does this mean? Udell explains that this is a dog’s way of building a relationship with a human, “Dogs always stay close to kids, even though adults are usually the ones who feed and care for them. The kid may play a sibling (兄弟姐妹) role in the life of the dog,” Udell says. “This shows that the relationship between kids and dogs is of great importance to the dogs.”

So far, Udell’s team’s study has just focused on dogs. Udell wonders if the animal-human bond is important to other kinds of pets as well. Researchers say that more studies will be done.

A.Its fear of adults.B.Kids’ love for them.
C.The dangers in its life.D.Its wish to have a sibling.
4. What can be learned from the passage about Udell’s team’s study?
A.The study still has a long way to go.
