A CCTV news program showed that in only an hour, more than 600 people jumped red lights when crossing a road at a crossing in Shijiazhuang, Hebei.“Chinese style road crossing” has become a hot expression recently. Chinese people “cross roads without thinking about traffic lights, so long as they are part of a crowd”, said a post on Sina Weibo.
Many people say that they jaywalk(乱穿马路)because the red light lasts too long. “People are likely to ignore(忽略) the light when the waiting time is longer than they can bear(忍受),” said Ni Ying, a member of the research team. However, a survey on Sina Weibo showed that nearly half of respondents(调查对象)believe that people jaywalk mainly because they don't respect rules.
Some Chinese cities have started taking some actions to punish jaywalkers. For example, the first three people in a jaywalking group will be fined(罚款)50 yuan in Shijiazhuang. But calling on people to respect rules is more important. To completely solve the problem, everyone should realize the importance of obeying the traffic rules.

Research has shown that it is difficult to concentrate on driving and talking at the same time. It can even be more dangerous than driving after drinking too much. A recent study found that when drivers were talking on their mobile phones, their stopping times were 30 percent slower than when they had drunk too much, and nearly 50 percent slower than when they were driving normally. It also found that drivers who were talking on mobile phones were less able to control their cars than drunken drivers.
Talking is not even the most serious problem, but texting(发短信) is. Unbelievably, another recent study reported that 22% of adults admitted (承认) they had sent a text message while driving at least once in the past month. An average text message takes 90 seconds to write and send. That means for one and a half minutes a driver is looking at their phone’s screen and not at the road. The new smart phones(智能手机) like iPhone will only make things worse as they allow users to do more things than ever before.
There is no doubt(毫无疑问) that mobile phones can be interesting and very useful, especially when you’re in trouble. But there is no need to use them while driving. Just wait until you stop or you will probably get into trouble of your own.
