4 . It’s currently December and Christmas is almost here. And what better way to spend time with your loved ones than sitting down to watch some classic Christmas movies? Listed below are four films that will make you laugh, cry or both this festive season.
The Grinch(2000)
This is a Christmas must-watch and one of Jim Carrey’s best performances. It was also originally a children’s book written by Dr Seuss, which I would recommend reading! It’s the story of a green monster who wants to ruin Christmas, but who in the end discovers the power of love and generosity. I promise it’s a great film with plenty of laughs along the way.
Love Actually(2003)
While this is not a personal favourite of mine, people in the UK absolutely love this film. It has a number of stars, featuring actors and actresses such as Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson and Alan Rickman. It might be a little difficult to follow as there are lots of different sub-plots, so I recommend watching a dubbed version(配音版)in your native language.
Home Alone(1990)
This film is one of my favourite films of all time and I would watch it all year round if I could. It tells the story of a boy, Kevin, who is left alone in his house when his large family forget to take him on vacation with them. While the family are away, burglars(小偷)try to rob the house and Kevin must protect his home by setting traps. The trips, falls and traps will have you laughing out loud as you watch a 10-year old boy outsmart two grown men.
Miracle on 34th Street(1994)
You can’t have Christmas in an English-speaking country without watching this film. It’s not funny like Home Alone or The Grinch, but it is incredibly touching. It’s about a man who claims to be Santa, but nobody believes him except a lawyer and a little girl.

6 . For those looking forward to exploring natural wonders, we will present four natural wonders in the US that we believe are worth visiting.
Death Valley National Park
It is the lowest, hottest, and driest part of North America. The hottest summer on record in the valley saw temperatures top 120.F on 40 days. Ground temperatures as high as 201.F have been reported. Still, Death Valley is called with the wrong words. There are areas that are friendly to plants and animals. Death Valleys “walking” rocks move on their own as a result of freezing and thawing (融化).
Yellowstone National Park
Yellowstone's Old Faithful Geyser is powered by an underground super volcano. In 1872, Yellowstone became the world's first national park. The park's wildlife includes bison, bears, and hundreds of other animals.
Crater (坑) of Diamonds (钻石) State Park
Discovered in Crater of Diamonds State Park, the 40-carat is the largest diamond ever found in the US. The diamonds and the crater are by-products of a volcanic eruption. Visitors can search the 37-acre site for diamonds and if you find it you keep it.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
Located on the big island -of Hawaii, the Kilauea and Mauna Loa volcanoes are the centerpieces of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. You can see how the Hawaiian Islands were born and watch the big island get bigger. Kilauea has been erupting since 1983

7 . New England holds some special museums. They are devoted largely or entirely to the work of just one person. And they are the artists’ birthplaces or onetime homes. Here are four examples of such museums.
Cyrus E. Dallin Art Museum
The name Cyrus E. Dallin (1861-1944) might not be familiar, but several of the artist’s sculptures (雕塑) are, especially those related to Native Americans. A good example is his “Appeal to the Great Spirit” standing in front of the Museum of Fine Arts. Born in Utah, he lived in Arlington for the final four decades of his life. The museum is in the Jefferson Cutter House, an 1830 Greek styled building.
Norman Rockwell Museum
Rockwell (1894-1978) was America’s well-known artist. The museum, founded in 1969, moved into its present location, Robert A.M. Stern-designed building in 1993. Its 998 paintings and drawings are the largest single collection of Rockwell's artworks.
Kids 16 and under: free; adults: $20; the old: at a 10% discount (折扣)
Edward Gorey House
Edward Gorey (1925-2000) was an artist, but he was also an author and clothes designer. Gorey bought this 18th-century house in 1979 and lived there for the rest of his life. Edward Gorey House is also known as the Elephant House. Gorey had respect for animals. The activities of the house, from art education to exhibits, show Gorey's support of animal well-being.
Gibert Stuart Birthplace and Museum

10 . Sitting on the edge of the world, Sydney is considered as one of the world’s greatest cities. Here are some things you should do and see in Sydney.
Explore Sydney’s hottest neighborhood
Many big-ticket attractions can be found in or around the Circular Quay area, right by the port. Here, you can get on ferries(轮渡) to faraway islands or go exploring on foot with the Sydney Opera House, Royal Botanic Gardens and Museum of Contemporary all nearby.
Take side trips
Popular among outdoor types, the rough Blue Mountains—about two hours by train west of the city—promises winter skiing, excellent hiking and kangaroo sightings. Walking through the national park, travelers will watch forests, waterfalls, natural caves, small villages and rock formations.
The Hunter valley, just a two-hour drive north of Sydney, is Australia’s oldest wine region. Most vineyards(葡萄园) are family-owned, focusing on small production. Wine is more personal here.
Stay in style
The classic Langham Hotel is located just west of Circular Quay, offering easy access to the famous port.
As you explore its beautiful corridors(走廊), look for contemporary artworks from around the world—The Langham Hotel has the largest art gathering (more than $1 million worth) in Australia.
Meanwhile, those looking for a more relaxed experience can go camping on Cockatoo Island—just a quick boat ride from Circular Quay.
