1 . Want to explore new cultures, meet new people and do something worthwhile at the same time? You can do all three with the Global Development Association (GDA).
Whatever stage of life you’re at, wherever you go and whatever project you do in GDA, you create positive changes in poor and remote communities.
We work with volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Most of our volunteers are aged 17-24. Now we need volunteer managers aged 25-75. They are extremely important in the safe and effective running of our programs. We have such roles as project managers and communication officers.
Depending on which role you choose, you could help to increase a community’s access to safe drinking water, or help to protect valuable local cultures. You might also design an adventure challenge to train young volunteers.
Not only will you help our young volunteers to develop personally, you’ll also learn new skills and increase your cultural awareness. You may have chances to meet new people who’ll become your lifelong friends.

The US The US has always been on the top destination list for Chinese students, with its high education standards and enough scholarships. Good news: It’s easier to get a US student visa nowadays. Last year, the refusal rate was only 20 to 30 percent, much lower than a few years before. Concerns: There are a lot to prepare. The TOFEL, GRE... It takes longer time to apply to US universities than schools in the UK. | Holland Tulips and wooden shoes: this was the image that once drew tourists. But Holland has more to offer. Good news: From 2005, Holland and China started recognizing each other education certificates. And from 2006, the government provides 4 million Euros for scholarships to Chinese students every year. Concerns: Not many Chinese know about Dutch education. Speaking Dutch sounds not easy. |
The UK Easier access to visas and international environment are the UK’s great attractions for Chinese students. Good news: There are many new scholarship this year, both from the government and universities. Concerns: Money. It’s expensive to study in the UK, with an average cost of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan a year. | Canada Canada’s multicultural environment is good for students’ studies and careers. 3 . HOLIDAY FUN AT THE POWERHOUSE

●Chinese Folk Dancing: Colorful Chinese dance and musical performances by The Chinese Folk Dancing School of Sydney. Dances include: The Golden stick dance and the Chinese drum dance. A feature will be the Qin Dynasty Emperor's court dance. Also included is a show of face painting for Beijing Opera performances.

●Australian Chinese Children's Arts Theatre: Well-known children's play experts from Shanghai lead this dynamic youth group. Performance include Chinese fairy tales and plays.

●Chinese Youth League: A traditional performing arts group featuring performance highlights such as the Red scarf and Spring flower dances, and a musician playing Er Hu.

●Kids Activity: Make a Paper Horse: Young children make a paper horse cut-out. (The horse is a frequent theme in Chinese painting, indicating a kind of advancement.) Suitable for ages 8-12 years.

●Club Med Circus School: Learn circus skills, including the trapeze (空中飞人), trampolining (蹦床) and magic. Not only for children over 5. There are 40 places available in each I hour and these must be booked at the front desk, level 4, on the day.
