Everglades National Park, Florida
Everglades National Park is the largest subtropical (亚热带) wilderness reserve in America. This amazing destination is a 1.5-million-acre ocean of grass which flows gradually from central Florida all the way south to the sea. This makes it -an important habitat for numerous rare and endangered species like manatee, American crocodile, and Florida jaguar.
Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona
Grand Canyon National Park is home to one of the largest canyons in the world. If you visit between mid-May and mid-October, you can see the Canyon from the North Rim. About 90% of all visitors see it from the “South Rim”, because it is open all year and has easy-to-get-to overlooks.
Mammoth Cave National Park, Kentucky
The caves house 200 animals, most of them being invertebrate (无脊椎) species. 42 of these species live in total darkness. These caves are incredible enough to be featured in Planet Earth——a must-see BBC documentary series.
Olympic National Park, Washington
Olympic National Park has a little bit of everything rugged Pacific coastline, high mountain peaks, broad sandy beaches, clear lakes, rain forests. With such a wide variety of ecosystems, Olympic is one of the most diverse wilderness areas in the United States. The park is an important habitat for species like wild salmon (鲑鱼), northern spotted owls.
Olympic National Park is very large and there are no roads that cross the park. If you visit in April or May, you may see gray whales pass by on their way to Alaska.

Calvert Cliffs State Park—Lusby, Maryland
One location where you can have access to the cliffs is at Calvert Cliffs State Park in Lusby, Maryland. Just a 1.8-mile walk from the parking lot, you can make a thorough search of the open beach with a small tool for remnants(遗迹) of prehistoric sea life.
Stratford Hall—Stratford, Virginia
About 17 million years earlier, during the Miocene era, the Stratford Hall’s 150-foot-high cliffs were actually part of the seafloor. Due to irresponsible fossil hunting practices, however, visitors must buy tickets ($8 for adults and$5 for kids) to enter the 100-yard-long collecting area. The Stratford Hall still offers guided tours that are typically about four hours long.
Purse State Park—Nanjemoy, Maryland
Just over an hour’s drive south of Washington, D. C, Purse State Park is located on a stretch of the banks of the Potomac River called Wades Bay. Most of the fossils you’ll find at this site are from the late Paleocene—specifically the Aquia Formation rock layer, which is 55 to 59 million years old. Look at the small stones carefully, in which the teeth of a wide variety of sharks and bony fish species can be found.
Dinosaur Park—Laurel, Maryland
Dinosaur Park usually serves as an outdoor laboratory, where the public can work alongside paleontologists(古生物学家). Hundreds of fossils discovered by visitors have been collected and catalogued(记载) to date, increasing our knowledge about ancient ecosystem that once existed there.

This life drawing class is open to improvers and experienced artists and is an opportunity to develop and explore drawing skills with a model. Working on lines, shading and general drawing skills, you’ll see demonstrations and be given individual teaching to help develop your skill base. Not all materials are provided.

It is a two-day introduction to the traditional art of stained glass using the Tiffany-style skill. Over the two days you will be taught how to make your own decorative suncatchers and will produce at least two pieces to take home.
