The spring festival is the more important holiday for the Chinese people. There are many traditional activity to celebrate the festival, such as to do a thorough cleaning to having a new look for the new year, to paste handwritten couplets(对联) on front doors to bring a good luck. On some areas, people conduct Yangge dance and lion dance to increase the festival atmosphere. Also, people prepared a variety of foods treat the family, friends and relatives. The festival lasts for 15 days. It’s usually the biggest family gathering for most families, but everyone is supposing to go home to join the celebration. Yesterday, I went to an amazing Chinese art festival. There were different stands which artists could present their skills and wonderfully teaching the visitors! It was definite an exciting experience for a foreign student like me. What caught up my attention first in a breathtaking exhibition of Chinese porcelain （瓷器）was a 15th-century qinghua bowl, vividly illustrating（阐明）a dragon played with a ball playing.
Then I tried paper cutting, that is, making images（图像）out of paper. It was difficult, and a lot of fun! Under an artist's help, I managed to make one in shape of a fish. Meanwhile, there was also an old man writing Chinese calligraphy （书法）and his writing was very free and elegant（优雅的）that I was attracted! Then another man sitting next to him shows me how seal cutting worked. He made one for me with my name in Chinese—pretty awesome!

This winter holiday, I go to Beijing with my father. It was the first time that I had been to our capital city. It left a deep impression with me. First I went to the Great Wall. It is more than 6,000 kilometers longer. The Great Wall was built over two thousands years ago. It built to keep the enemy out of the nation. Then I went to the Forbidden City, what is located in the center of Beijing. I spent about three hours walking around, reading and enjoying the exhibits of there. In the Dragon Boat Festival (龙舟节) this year, I invited Mr Smith, my foreign teacher, to my home to spent the festival together. My mother cooked delicious food for us. He even showed Mr Smith what to make zongzi. After dinner, I led him the river to see the dragon boat race. The banks of the river were full of people but a total of 12 dragon boat teams took part. As the game began, so the team members paddled (划桨) quickly. The race was excited.

Last Thursday, I invited Alan to my house to spend the Mid-Autumn Festival. While we were wait for a big lunch, both Alan and I felt hungry. After having the big lunch, we felt full of energetic. Have you ever wondered how an American high school is really like? A typical American high school has several large building and enough space for about 1,500 students. Some festivals are held to honour the dead or satisfy the ancestors，who might return neither to help or to do harm. On this important feast day，people eat food in the shape of skulls and cakes with "bones" on it. They offer food，flowers and gifts to the dead. The Western holiday Halloween also has its origin in old beliefs about the return of the spirit of dead people. It is now a children's festival，which they can dress up and go to their neighbours' homes to ask for sweets. If the neighbours do not give any sweets，the children might play a trick at them.
It is interested to visit another country, but sometimes there are some questions when we don’t know the language very well. It may be difficult to talk about the people there. We may not know how to use the telephone in the country which are visiting. We may not know what to buy the things we need. In a strange country we may not know where to eat and what to order in a restaurant. It is not easy to decide how many money to tip (付小费) waiters or taxi drivers. When we are helpful，we may not know how to ask help. After a short time later, however, we learn what to do and what to say. We learn to enjoy life in another country, and then we may be sorry to leave both the place and the people.
