The traditional Chinese name chop (名章) or seal has been used for thousands of years.     1     is quite likely that people began using name chops because Chinese characters are so complex and few people in ancient times    2    (be) able to read and write. Only a special type of slow-drying red ink is used for a name chop, so if you buy a chop in China, get an inkpad (印泥盒) too.

Numerous Chinese cultural and art treasures have been put on show in many parts of the world over the past years, showcasing the fantastic Chinese civilization on the global stage and     1     (promote) cultural exchanges.

In December, 2018. New Zealand's national museum started a four- month exhibition, where both terracotta warriors (兵马俑) and more than 160 ancient antique pieces    2    (make) of gold, jade and bronze were displayed. On the opening day, local citizens    3    (line) up to enjoy this "once in a lifetime" experience. The exhibition,    4    provided visitors with some knowledge of long standing Chinese civilization, was    5    (high) appreciated for the individuality of each terracotta warrior and the unbelievable creativity needed to build the army.

Treasures showing the lives of emperors and empresses from the Qing Dynasty also went on display in museums in Washington. D. C.and Moscow in 2019.     6    over 100 pieces put on show, including realistic    7    (painting), furnishings and jewelry from the Palace Museum in Beijing. The exhibition was also    8    huge success.

Chinese and foreign museums have been making exchanges to encourage dialogue between civilizations and foster people’ s    9    (understand) of and engagement with cultures that interest     10    (they). It is an important job for museums to bring the world closer.

To celebrate the Lantern Festival the Palace Museum organized its first light show in the Forbidden City.

The complex, home to Chinese emperors for five     1    (century), was opened at night for the first time in 94 years. It was lit up with giant red lanterns and projections of ancient paintings. Masterpieces such as Along the River During the Qingming Festival were projected on the roofs, giving visitors a feeling like walking     2     time. The design team smartly combined high technology    3    (light) with the principles of cultural relic preservation.

Only 3, 000 people     4    (allow) in on that day: 500 people who booked their tickets online, and 2, 500    5    (invite) guests including model workers, officers, soldiers, and ambassadors.

6 . When I was a university student, I     1    (attract) by the Chinese. So I got a job as a teacher in Wuhan three years ago.     2    (think) back, I realize it was the students I met in the first year and Chinese university life in general     3     gave me the deepest impression.

During my school days, I would rarely give up my spare time to any activity     4    (connect) with study. Unless exams were approaching, my weekends were devoted to having fun or perhaps a part-time job. My Chinese students,     5     the other hand, seemed to spend their entire waking hours studying. I understand that competition in Chinese universities is extremely fierce. Nonetheless, their energy and motivation put     6    (I) to shame.

My first year in China was also my first year as a teacher. It was both challenging     7     rewarding. One thing I know for certain is that my year in Wuhan changed me for the     8    (good). Thanks to the politeness and     9    (warm) of Chinese students, I overcame my fear of speaking in public and became more self-confident. Most     10    (important), I met dozens of nice people and made many excellent friends.
