1 . The United Kingdom is a land of natural beauty and history, with many of its finest attractions discovered through hiking. Now, dust off your boots, plan according to the following routes presented by a survey of senior hikers and an incredible experience will wait for you.
Wales Coastal Path
Wales is the only country in the world that has an official walking path covering its whole borders. The Wales Coastal Path is a footpath stretching 870 miles from Chester to Chepstow. Walking the whole thing might be demanding, but there are plenty of stretches that can be enjoyed over a day or two.
Southwest Coast Path
You need a fair amount of annual leave, a casual 52 days or so, to undertake this in one go. The route runs from Somerset all the way to Dorset, via rugged cliffs, cute fishing villages and surfing spots along the coastline. You can surely jump on to any point as you like, but you can't afford to miss all the pubs full of jokes and laughter on the way!
Coast to Coast Walk
This long-distance trail isn’t official, but popular in the country, taking hikers from the Irish Sea to the North Sea as it rolls into historic Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire. Following local footpaths, the route takes you through three UK National Parks: the Lakes, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors.
Cleveland Way
You’ll want nine days to folly complete this hike, which explores both the North York Moors and the county’s world-famous coastline. Just make sure you allow enough time to properly enjoy spots like Roseberry Topping hill and pick up a gentle afternoon walk at Whitby’s clifftop church.

4 . Many visitors to the UK go straight to London and never explore outside the capital, which is a pity, for there is various landscape only a few hours away, in any one of Britain’s largest areas of protected countryside, its national parks.
The Cairngorms
The biggest is the Cairngorms in northern Scotland, with some of the country’s highest mountains and the best place for skiing. Ponytrekking, climbing and fishing are also popular, along with Scotland’s national game, golf. Wildlife enthusiasts are well rewarded — this is the home of the red deer, red squirrel and golden eagle.
The Lake District
Over the border in England is the Lake District, originally made famous by local Romantic poet William Wordsworth two hundred years ago. People have been travelling here in large numbers since 1847 when a railway was built to its biggest lake, Windermere. Children’s writers have found inspiration here too, and the mountains make for excellent walking, with breathtaking views.
Snowdonia
Wales also has its fair share of impressive landscape — Snowdonia was one of the first national parks to be created in 1951. You will find the road signs in two languages and hear Welsh spoken in the local shops. If mountain climbing is not your thing, try visiting a castle built by a 13th-century prince, or check out the nearby beaches.
The Giant’s Causeway
For the strangest coastal scenery of all, cross the Irish Sea to the Giant’s Causeway, a set of basalt (玄武岩) columns formed by volcanic activity sixty million years ago — or, as legend (传说) has it, built by warrior giant Finn McCool to walk from Northern Ireland to fight his enemy in Scotland. The stone “steps” are not complete because the giant fell asleep — something you’ll probably want to do yourself at the end of an exciting day in the great British outdoors.

6 . Singapore is a very modern country in Southeast Asia. If you’ve been traveling in its capital city, Singapore, it can be a shock when it comes to accommodation prices. For backpackers they have no choice but to stay outside of the central area. If you are a visitor, I think it’s best to stay in the historic central area to make the most of your time. For first-timers I have put together this list of the best areas to stay in Singapore.
Chinatown
Chinatown is where the original community of Chinese immigrants settled in Singapore. The area is lined with Chinese stores, markets, and great places to eat for all budgets. It lies next to the downtown area and there is a variety of accommodation choices, from hostels (招待所) to 5-star hotels.
Little India
Little India is where most of the original Indian migrants made their home. Today it is still famous for temples, markets, and lots of places to eat delicious Indian foods. It’s the most popular spot for backpackers and there are some good mid-range choices here.
Kampong Glam
A short walk from Little India is the Kampong Glam area. This is where Arab traders set up shops, with street names such as Haji Lane, Baghdad St, and Arab St. The neighborhood is now one of the trendiest in Singapore.
Changi Airport
With one of the biggest airports in the region, the chances are you might just be passing without time to stay. Changi Airport is awarded as one of the best in the world, so if you have to do an overnighter at an airport, then you couldn’t have a better experience than at Changi. I didn’t get any sleep but it was an enjoyable stay for an airport.

Also, some people can enjoy the wonderful music and dance festivals there. Located in Spain’s most southern region, you are guaranteed lovely hot weather during the summer. However, as it is set at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, there is skiing during the winter, making it a popular destination all year round.
Centuries ago, Granada was once a city filled with hundreds of public baths. One of the few that remains undamaged dates back to(始于) the 11th century. However, Granada’s most popular attraction is the Alhambra. The name Alhambra means “red castle” because of the color of the stone, which is particularly beautiful at sunset. As you walk through its narrow streets and beautiful gardens, you will be able to experience the charm of this particular region.
Within the Alhambra is the Parador(旅馆) Granada, which is one of Spain’s most popular hotels. It was originally part of a palace and later turned into a convent(女修道院), it’s a place where you can calm your mind. Its tranquil courtyard and lovely views are some of the reasons why so many guests enjoy their stay.
Located on the hill not far from the Alhambra is Albaicin. This used to be an Arab silk market, but today the small streets are filled with shops selling local handicrafts. From Albaicin, there is a steep walk up to a church, but it’s well worth the effort. With the mountains in the background, you will be able to get a beautiful view.
Granada has its own airport with flights from London and Stansted, so flying out for a long weekend couldn’t be easier. Why not discover for yourself why so many people around the world love coming to this charming city ?

8 . Go on a visit to a garden made by an artist and you will get a sense of that person and their inspirations. The choice of plants and landscaping reveals much about their life and what drove their creativity.
Giverny
Monet redirected a stream and dug a pond to create this fantastic landscape. The scene with its curved Japanese bridge was the subject of some of Monet’s best-known and most-loved paintings, and visitors can stand where he once did and try to see it through his eyes.

Caza Azul
Frida Kahlo was born and died in this garden. Local trees and plants sit beside Mexican folk works of art and an Aztec pyramid designed by her husband Diego Rivera. All of these elements reflect the character and style of this influential artist.

Little Sparta
Two hectares of exposed land were turned into an outdoor exhibition of 270 artworks by Ian Hamilton Finlay. He also built two temples from outbuildings and a pool with a fountain. It’s best to visit in June, July and August when trees and plants related to the work look their best. littlesparta. org.
Keeffe Museum
The modernist, Georgia O’Keeffe, installed large windows into the adobe (土坯)house where she lived and worked so that she could have a connection with the expansive landscape all around. She said that she was surprised to find “what a difference a garden can make in one’s life”.
