The bar was originally in New York. Its owner, Tod Sloan, had it shipped across the Atlantic to Paris. The “Harry’s” in the name came from a waiter who bought it from Sloan in 1923. Five Flower Lake
Set in the striking karst landscape of the Jiuzhaigou Valley in Sichuan province, China, Five Flower Lake is extraordinarily clear, with visibility to a depth of 40 metres. Five Flower is one of a series of blue-, green-and sky-colored lakes blocked by rock falls, but it differs from the others as its waters change color, looking sometimes yellow, sometimes green, but usually diamond blue. In winter, Five Flower never freezes; in summer, it never dries up. Local wildlife living in the surrounding mountain forests include the rare giant panda and the golden snub-nose monkey.
Crater Lake
The deep-blue waters of Crater Lake in Oregon, US, fill the outlet of an ancient volcano that collapsed 7,700 years ago. Its strangest occupant is the “Old Man of the Lake”, a nine-metre-tall tree stump(树桩), which has stood upright in the water for more than a century. No rivers or streams enter the lake. Water loss in summer is compensated by winter snow and rain, the entire body of water being replaced every 250 years.
Lake Ohrid
Ancient Lake Ohrid has been around for about five million years and crosses the mountainous border between Macedonia and Albania. It has unique plants and wildlife, including the Ohrid “plashica”, a fish native to the lake, whose scales(鳞片) are used to make Ohrid pearls.
Lake Maggiore
Surrounded on three sides by the Lipontine Alps and touching the plain of Lombardy to the south, Lake Maggiore is Italy’s longest lake. Considered part of the country’s lake district, it is shared with Switzerland. Characterized by a Mediterranean-style climate, temperatures here are mild all year. Dear Tom,
How are you going these days? I’m pleased to share a true thrilling travel experience with you.
In the past summer holiday, my parents took my little sister and me Leshan, Sichuan Province, which is noting for the Giant Stone Buddha. The Buddha is really big. Looked up at the large head and down at the large feet, I feel I was so small before the exceptional work. The next day, we climbed Mount Emei, on what beautiful scenery took our breath away. There are many old temples and wild monkey. At dusk, we made their way home. Although we were worn out, but our trip was really a impressive one.
Looking forward to travelling with you next time.
Yours,
Li Hua

Alcatraz Island
You’ve probably heard of Alcatraz, the 22-acre island about one mile off the coast of San Francisco. It’s famous for serving as a prison for criminals. Today, it’s one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city, partially because of the fascinating museums on the island.
After taking a self-guided tour of the prison, stick around to explore the many museums and exhibits in the island’s various buildings. Exhibits range from collections of prisoner’s hand-made items and historical items to exhibitions on the history of crime in America to exhibits on the island’s Native American occupation of the 1970s.
Fee: Accessible only via cruises; prices start at $ 28 (for kids).
Address: Pier 33 Alcatraz Landing.
Hours: Changes seasonally, open daily.
Musée Mecanique
This small-but-packed museum is the best in SF for going back in time as the collection has more than 300 items. The museum started as one person’s personal collection back in the 1930s, but has since ballooned into the impressive spread visitors can see today.
Admission to the Musée Mecanique is totally free, but because it sits near Pier 45, it’s likely that you’ll end up spending some money in the area, anyway - the popcorn carts on the pier are hard to resist.
