During the weekend, parents and I paid a visit to Datong City by train. We arrive there at about 9 am. First we went to an ancient temple, in that we saw some impressive Budda statues. It is small but beautiful. So we stayed here for nearly two hours. Then we left for the temple to go downtown. You can’t imagine what crowded the street was! My parents bought some souvenirs in the local market. Meanwhile, I collected some postcard and funny toys. As we know, Datong is famous as its noodles, so we couldn't wait to taste some in a restaurant decorating traditionally. At 5 pm, we came back home happy.

8 . There are various reasons why people travel. Some tourists go to see battlefields or other historic remains. Others are looking for culture, or simply want to have their pictures taken in front of famous places. Most European tourists are looking for a sunny beach to lie on.
Northern Europeans are willing to pay a lot of money for the sun because they have so little of it. People of cities like London, Copenhagen and Amsterdam spend much of their winter in the dark because the days are so short, and much of the rest of the year in the rain. This is the reason why the Mediterrancan has always attracted them.
Every summer many people travel to Mediterranean resorts and beaches for their vacation. They all come for the same reason: sun! The huge crowds mean lots of money for the economics of Mediterranean countries. Italy’s 30,000 hotels are booked without a break every summer. And 13 million people camp on French beaches, parks and roadsides. About 37 million tourists visit there yearly, or one tourist for each person living in Spain.
But there are signs that the area is getting more tourism than it can deal with. The Mediterrancan is already one of the most polluted seas on earth. None of these, however, is ruining anyone’s fun. Obviously, they don’t go there for clean water. They allow traffic jams and seem to like crowded beaches. They don’t even mind the pollution. No matter how dirty the water is, the coastline still looks beautiful. And as long as the sun shines, ifs still better than sitting in the cold rain in Berlin, London, or Olso.

10 . One of the most traditional British holidays is the seaside holiday. Typically, families travel to British seaside towns.
In the late 1970s, air travel became affordable for the average family, and more and more British people started travelling abroad for their summer holidays. After all, the British weather isn’t very good, even in summer.
In the 1980s and 1990s, British young people became wealthier. They started to go abroad in groups. Once at their destination they socialised with other young people and had one long party.
British holidaying habits have begun to change, however. The UK now has a warmer climate than before, so people don’t always feel they need to go overseas. Also, the world seems a less certain place as interconnected economies (经济) rise and fall, which means that the cost of foreign holidays is less predictable than before. The domestic (国内的) tourism industry — when people go on holiday in their own country — is healthier than it has been in decades. UK newspapers have even invented a new word: a “staycation”.
In some ways, therefore, the UK has come full circle. There is now an increased appreciation among Britons for the diversity of the UK. It is not just the geography, which ranges from the flat fens (沼泽) of East Anglia to the valleys of Wales to the mountains of Scotland, which is diverse. And it is not just the diversity of climate-based activities on offer, which range from surfing in the warm southwest of England, to hillwalking and skiing in the north, it is also the diversity of the cultures in the UK that is beginning to be of interest to domestic tourists. People forget sometimes that there are different accents, languages, traditions, cuisines and peoples across all the parts of the UK.
