7 . Best Outdoor Activities in Orlando
Organ Pipe Cactus (仙人掌) National Monument
This national monument in Arizona is located within the Sonoran Desert, which spans more than 330,000 acres and is one of the few places in the US where you can see the country’s largest cacti. This “green desert” gets its name from the organ pipe cactus, whose branches mimic the musical instrument. Visitors can explore 31 cactus species and wildflowers through the monument’s many hikes, including the Nature Trail, a short and accessible paved trail. Take your camera, because the area is also home to the Sonoyta mud turtle, desert bighorn, and birds such as the Gila woodpecker and cactus wren.
Red Rock State Park
Located in the center of the state, Red Rock State Park is a popular road trip destination and a must-see attraction during a multi-day trip to the Sedona area. The nature preserve features a visitor center and picnic areas that invite visitors to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Arizona red rocks that surround them. With environmental education and conservation top of mind, Red Rock State Park is a primary place that asks visitors to hike lightly, pack out what they pack in and stick to the trails.
Sedona
Sedona is regularly described as one of America’s most beautiful places. Nowhere else will you find a landscape as dramatically colorful. The towering red rocks and jagged sandstone hills matched against an almost always blue sky have attracted professional and young artists for years. Plus, filmmakers have chosen these burning rock formations in north-central Arizona as the backdrop for such box-office hits as “3:10 to Yuma,” “Broken Arrow” and “Midnight Run.”
Orlando Watersports Complex (OWC)
On top of all that exciting lake-borne action, those looking for something exciting can take part in OWC’s Aquapark, a group of LEGO-inspired ships with climbing barriers, slides and more that will wear you and more importantly, your kids out! Last summer vacation, I decided to visit my best friend in Barcelona. Aline sent me a screenshot (屏幕截图) of the ticket she was about to buy for me, from Saturday to Wednesday. I approved of the selection, she bought it, and I packed. The next day I headed to the airport, a little later than planned.
When I got to the airport with only my carry-on bag, it was 35 minutes before the gate closed. I headed directly to the security checkpoint. The electronic machine marked a big fat red × and told me to see an airline official. I did what I was told to do and stood in line at the airline counter (柜台), while one of the only two ladies available left. My heart was racing as I kept looking at the clock. A man, loud and rude, arrived with an airport employee and cut ahead, shouting at the lady and taking 10 minutes of my precious time.
By the time I arrived at the counter it was 8:02 and the gate closed at 8:05. The lady asked me what was wrong, and I told her. She then scanned (扫描) my ticket and told me the problem was that the gate had closed. I complained and told her I had arrived earlier.
“Where were you then?”
“In line, waiting for you.”
She didn’t say anything else, except to help change my ticket. I didn’t panic; instead I went into action mode. I searched for other flights. Just one flight would leave in 35 minutes. I was already at the airport, so I bought the ticket. I then tried to check in: check-in closes 40 minutes before the flight.
I took a deep breath, stopped running around, grabbed a taxi home, and bought my third ticket from Sunday to Sunday, extending my stay.

9 . When is the best time to visit Canada? It’s really hard to say, but your time can depend on what parts of Canada you plan to visit.
If you are foreign visitors who are traveling in Canada, it’s best to travel from south to north in spring and from north to south in autumn. The south starts warming up earlier in spring, and the north starts cooling off earlier in autumn.
If you want to travel across Canada in autumn, you need to think about the weather in different Canadian places. If you are visiting British Columbia, the Alberta Rockies, Ontario and Quebec, it’s best to start in Vancouver and travel towards the Rockies. It would be helpful to visit the Canadian Rockies at the end of September and certainly on Canadian Thanks-giving that happens on the second Monday in October, which differs from American Thanksgiving in November. Some attractions in the mountains start closing at the beginning of October.
In spring, it will be good to travel in the opposite direction. You can start visiting Quebec and Ontario in May, and travel westwards so that you get to the Canadian Rockies in June. If you travel around the coast of British Columbia and the Canadian Rockies, you should remember that the coast warms up much earlier than the mountains do.
When you are designing your trip, it helps to know the average temperature and the highest and lowest temperatures in the destinations you will visit, because temperatures will affect your holiday experience and the hours of daylight. In Canada, days are short and nights are long in winter, but in summer they are opposite.
