文章大意:这是一篇说明文。主要介绍了作者和家人参观过的一座神奇的冰雪宾馆。

1 . On arrival one cannot fail but to be impressed by its magical beauty. My six-year-old daughter compared it to a fairy-tale (童话般的) castle as she stood staring at it, speechless, for once in her life. Even for us adults it had its magic.

Unexpectedly, the inside was not as cold as the outside. Extremely warm sleeping bags are provided in each guest room. With temperatures ranging from -4°C to -7°C, guests are encouraged to bring their own warm underwear. For those who are not so brave, there are “warm” rooms on the ground floor, where the temperature is more bearable. This was a choice for which my wife and daughter were grateful, while I didn’t like it, wishing to set an example and go for two nights at well below freezing.

The first ice hotel in Sweden was founded in 1989 and was also the world’s first ice hotel. It is in fact both an art exhibition and a hotel, made of nice, a mixture of snow and ice from one of Europe’s last wild rivers. The snow, used to build the hotel, reflects the sun rays and protects the ice inside the hotel from melting.

More than 50 people are involved (参与) in the construction of the hotel. However, at the end of November, artists arrive from all over the world; this means a total of about 100 people. Artistic ice sculpture (雕塑品) are on show throughout the hotel and guests can create ice sculptures themselves.

The amount of rooms differs from year to year with usually around 65 rooms. The hotel is never the same, but a new “artwork” each year to receive 50,000 to 60,000 visitors every year, including day visitors and overnight visitors.

We all said our goodbyes on the third day, knowing that we had actually lived a unique experience. It was very hard to imagine that, if we ever returned, it would be a completely different ice hotel, another products of the creative minds who come here yearly to build this magical huge igloo.

1. How did the author’s daughter feel when she saw the ice hotel?
A.Calm.B.Surprised.C.Puzzled.D.Disappointed.
2. What can guests enjoy in the ice hotel?
A.Ice sculpture exhibition.B.Warm-keeping beds.
C.Winter sunlight.D.A fairy castle.
3. What do we know about the ice hotel in Sweden?
A.It is completely constructed by artists.B.It is made of man-made ice.
C.It is built for an art exhibition.D.It is rebuilt every year.
4. What can we infer from the text?
A.All the visitors stay overnight in the ice hotel.
B.Guests can experience the building of ice rooms.
C.The ice hotel is an “artwork” more than a hotel.
D.The ice hotel provides the same amount of rooms every year.

7 . Crossing the pedestrian bridge that connects our school to its surrounding neighborhood reminds us that there's more to Rochester than just our school.     1     By staying on campus all the time, we limit ourselves to just feeling like students and not people. Here's a list of things we can do around Rochester whenever we see it again.

2     It's a big, wide open produce market that happens every Saturday on Union Street. They sell flowers, vegetables, fruits, and clothing, and there are a few restaurants and coffee shops along the alleyway. Often, they have live music, and once I watched a friend play their saxophone there in front of the grape stand.

Study somewhere else besides school. Go to a coffee shop, or one of the public libraries. I like the music library at Eastman, and the coffee shop across the street, Java's. Rochester is full of cafes and spots to sit and study.     3

Go to a concert, if you're into that. The Little Theater has free live music every single night, and there's a variety of other bars and music halls that bring in local artists. Most venues offer shows for less than $10.     4     That's my favorite. Those guys are crazy, and watching them play their instruments is like being transported into a strange, shimmering world of classical music.

Go for more walks. When you're stuck, listen to music and roam around our campus. Sit under a tree and look at all the people walking by. Or take one of the shuttles that stop in front of the library to a new neighborhood, like the South Wedge, and float in and out of the small businesses along the street. Or, if you know somebody with a car, go to Letchworth and see the waterfalls.     5

A.Go to the Live Music.
B.Go to the Public Market.
C.But how often do we cross that bridge?
D.No matter what it is, going outside always helps.
E.If you can focus outside of our own library, do it.
F.Additionally, all student concerts at Eastman are free for students at our school.
G.It's no secret that our college campus, like the majority of campuses, is a bubble.

8 . 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

One of my most memorable trips took place during the summer vacation about three years ago, when my sister, my aunt and I took a trip to Spain because we were moving. On the day of the trip, I lay in bed thinking about my friends whom I was going to leave behind and thoughts were flooding in.

When we arrived at the hire station, we seemed to have some problems with our luggage because it was too much for a taxi, so we had to book a van (厢式送货车) to take our luggage to the airport. We waited for a long period to find a perfect van that would fit our luggage.

Before leaving, I felt very bad because I was going to a different country and was going to miss all my friends and family. I was not comfortable and cried.

The journey was almost perfect at the beginning, but soon it began to rain. Because of the rain, the drivers could not see far away, which caused a huge traffic jam. I was sitting by the window with a can of Coke that I had bought in the store earlier. My aunt and sister fell asleep, and during this time. I felt bored and thought about other things that bothered me. My eyes turned to the mountain in front of us.

A bus suddenly appeared in the picture. It was very close to us. Cars sped past us without any speed limit. Beside me was a very deep lake: I wondered to myself what if something or someone fell inside it. Suddenly, a bus in front of our van stopped, and because it was raining heavily and the van was going fast, no one could see what was going to happen. Then, bang, we bumped into each other. Our van overturned, but luckily, it didn’t fall into the lake. People came to help us get out of the van because we were blocked and the driver was half-dead.

注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.续写部分分为两段,每段的开头语已为你写好。

We struggled to get out of the van and everything we had was gone.
